technically it isn't actually magnetic, but paramagnetic.
It can be affected by a magnetic field given of by a magnet, but it cannot be caused to give off a magnetic field, except for conducting that of an actual magnet.

So you would need to find a way to magnetise the body of the T-72 in order to make the putty be attracted to it.

@Gollath: Well that's disappointing. I'm assuming the putty is filled with little pieces of metal, or metal dust. What if this stuff was magnetized before being mixed with the putty?
