Death-Dealing Devastator

I am about to expand my lizardman army to 3k and was wondering whether saurus cavalry were any good in 8th edition or whether is I should just go for more characters, skinks and saurus.

I played a demo game of ogres vs lizardmen at the local GW in anticipation of 8th, and my opponent had some of them. I can tell you, with the lore of heavens spell that lets your reroll ones, and the fact that they have 1+ armour, brutalized my army. Bulls could do little, gnoblar horde didnt nothing. In fact, I'm amazed that I ended up winning the game. I had some lucky rolls with the tyrant at the end dealing just enough wounds to kill them all (I would have lost in combat res).
I would imagine that great weapons and the like would tear them apart, though.

1+ Cavalry is hard to deal with anytime. We had a unit of Empire Knights, significantly less hard than Saurus Cavalry, take a charge from Rat Ogres with a smile. Most great weapons are only S5 or S6, so you're still gonna get a 3+ or 4+ armor save. Pretty brutal, regardless.

Beat me to it. Still trying to decide whether to field a unit of 10 of these, Banner and Musician instead of a regular Steg.
