Well after many failed attempts at getting armies started and project blogs going, I have decided to work on an army first then start posting. Now that I am 40% done with the list I decided nows a good time. I decided on an all Death Company list (kinda) and it has worked out very well so far. My win ratio is higher then with my Tyranids (which was good to begin with). The reason for an all Death Company army is mainly because no one else in my area thought it was worth making, due to its inability to captured objectives. My reply is, who cares if you cant claim objectives if you kill of your opponents objective scoring units? They still have a point, so I created (2) 5 man scout squads. So here are the first set of picks. I will post more of the squads and my WIP of stormravens later today.

Nice work on those, although the Astorath definitely could use some work on the paintjob. Also, the Sanguinor could use a different head, as using a bare head would make the model more recognisible. Great work on the actual modelling though

I agree on Astroth. I think hes going to get a bath, cleaned up and repainted.

For the Sanguinar, I am still working on him. I like that head but I see what your saying.

Here is a couple shots of my first 2 death company squads. I have a command squad in the works and one more 10 man death company. I have a storm raven in the works paint wise and another in the build process. I will post those later as well.

I'd layer the wing feathers on Astrolath, at least two colours. Well, for when you next do it.

I will probably strip the paint in the next day or two for Astroths body but the jump pack/wings I will just touch up. I decided to included a couple storm raven picks for some people who PMed me. I will work on a tutorial for my 3rd storm raven (or I will just use my 2nd, not sure yet). Thanks to Foreteller for the initial design inspiration, I just modelled it slightly different. Enjoy, let me know what you think.

Well I dare, since my other army is Black Templar (Sol Templars) and I had the spare part

Plus everyone knows Blood Angels are the cats meow over older codexs right now. J/K...kinda. A lot of the first squad are either the metal veterans or the legion of the damned. I wanted all of them to be close combat weapons (mainly because I never took the time to understand relentless and rage) and I ran out of parts so I had to scavenge. More then playing, I love converting, it is my favorite part of the hobby.

Here is a WIP of my dreadnought for Heavy Support choice. I know there are some better options but I went with the quad autocannons for two reasons: First, you don’t see a lot of them and second I only had the upper body of the dreadnought…got from a bitz grab bag from The WarStore.com. Following the dread, is my chaplain/reclusiarch that I was substituting for Lemartes until I could purchase him. Enjoy.

Thanks for the messages on the Dreadnought. I will probably start on him this weekend after I finish the command squad, which I happen to have one to show right now, it is my sanguinary priest. I know honor guard for blood angels are generally gold in color, but I decided that the very few non-death company units in this collection will still wear the red armor. I will start adding penitent markings for all of them, as the company Im creating is formed from those BA that have sinned greatly but not so bad that they were put to death.

Sorry its been awhile for updates. Was spending a crap load of time getting army ready for gamesday. Now that its over, I can show some of my newest conversions and painted models.

First up are a few interiors of my second Storm Raven. I decided to open this one up and include crew.

Next is my Furioso Librarian Dreadnought. I hooked him up with a frag cannon. Its a very useful weapon.

Finally is Lemarates. Since so much of my army is black armored, I felt a bone/stone like color would help in stand out.

Well let me know what you think.

Frag Cannon is a fantastic choice for them. A shame they're the only unit that can have it.

The Chaplain with jumppack looks fantastic.

Thanks!

Ive had to revamp my army a little bit. Instead of 3x death company squads (pure cheese I have to admit), I have broken it down to a vanguard, assault and a death company squad. I will post the finished products for each this week. I just changed the color of the joints to: Yellow = Vanguard (with chapterhouse stuido jump packs); Red = Assault Squad (with blood angel jump packs) and Black = Death Company.

Im going to keep the overall black army scheme to show this is a Penitent company made up of the sinners seeking redemption.

Any suggestions on the furioso librarian dread? Should i follow librarian schemes of blue armor?

Will it not be a bit dificult for your oponent to identify your army if they still all are black?

Not necessarily. All of the Marines have BA symbols to start with. Each squad has some sort of unique wargear to distinguish each squad (or lack of in case of the death company).

Finally, I thought about that at first but, I thought about the Ultramarines. They have all blue armor, or Raven Guard with black/white. Like I said, the big distinction will be the different backpacks/jump packs the units have...they clearly define each squad. I will show hopefully tonight or tommorow.

Nice theme for the army. Sorry to be a buzzkill, but by my reading the furioso libby cannot take a frag cannon:

Darn helmets...small oversight on my part. Thats something I can play around with.

Darn FAQs. Sigh. Thankfully I didnt glue it down Unfortunatley I dont have a spare arm :(

Actually I could keep it as is. Treat it as a furioso dread instead. The librarian dread has performed terribly for me thus far...hmmm.

Here are a few of the Vanguard redo's from one of the death company units. I forgot to show the paint job on the joints. Sorry for the dark pictures.

The dreadnought leg extensions were created from the support legs of the quad guns you get out of the Imperial defense line box.

The frag cannon is made from the flamestorm cannon from the new baal predator. The pieces are attached to the Ironclad dread's hurricane bolter arm. Then I add pieces of plasticard to fill in here and there. The force weapon is a plastic tube, with the blade of the wraithlord on top and the searchlight thing from the ravenwing box set. The left arm is that of the venerable dread, leg wings are from the ravenwing box and those are terminator shields on its lower legs.

The death company dread is the ironclad, with the lower shield guards of the venerable dread. I added some hanging scroll things over the upper legs to fill it out. Im going to be wiring in a magna grapple hand into the left arm with a chain (and wire interlaced to make it look like its whipping around or out).

The upper legs of both dreads are from the support legs of the quad gun you get in the imperial defence line set.
