Nobody ever talks about Vilitch.
Isn't dice-stealing fun?
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I personally enjoy valkia (in my battles, you sicko's). the steadfast rule nerfs her down a bit, but since she perpetually issues challenges putting her into a big unit of dudes was never a good idea to begin with. She really shines when she charges handgunners or warmachines witch she also doesnt do quite as well now that she has to roll dice for charging....hmmm, well she still has a ton of str7 attacks on the charge, plus killing blow!
Vilitch i have never found to be useful, if your opponent fails to dispel one of HIS spells, you get dice, and if somebody fails to cast a spell nowadays its "usually" because they only threw one dice at it. The only way i see him as useful is in a TZ powerhouse list if you can find a way to cast infernal gateway with him and another caster since vilitch doesnt start up the duplicate spells rules. Of course he DOES have what, +6 to casting?

Throgg. Tough, immune to killing blow without fancy wargear, strong, really good against high armour, DEADLY breath weapon in the new edition dear god. BSB and general for monstrous infantry in the WoC army book.
I think Valkia's killiness got way worse in the new edition, but her EotG rerolls and acting as a BSB are great. Though granted now she doesn't act like a BSB - rerolling break tests is only like 1/3 of the things they're good for now!
Sigvald is great. The new edition really gave him a boost, since ASF will allow him rerolls 90% of the time. A BSB prevents his stupidity from being a problem, and he's I believe the only Ld 10 model in the book aside from Archaon. Plus stubborn without needing more ranks than the enemy!

Throgg is good for his points especially with his new in combat breath Attack. So is kholek out because he can be sniped by cannon etc? S8 d3 wounds kills most enemy chars ( though galrauch is probably more worth the 600 points). Festus seems like a great addition to a 50+ horde khorne marauder gw unit, giving them all some measure of regen and poison. Wulfrik with 20-25 marauders also seems useful against war machines etc. Anyone else have thoughts on those three?

Breath weapons will almost always hit more models fired than used in combat. I love kholek, his problem is stubborn units and 'go add heavy armor to a shaggoth model' that nobody wants to do. Wulfrik is good just comes with a terrible model. Festus doesn't wear armor and his combat stats are worse than other sorcerers. Wulfrik is actually pretty good. Now that striking is in I order every chaos character got better really, so they should all really be something to be feared in challenges.
