I'm starting my first WHFB army and this is also my first war gaming army ever. I've picked up my copy of 8th edition and I've gone though the lore of most of the armies in the book my problem is i really cant pick an army. I try to pick by looks and i end up still liking a lot of the armies, i go by lore and i love almost every fantasy themed thing there is except tomb kings so there gone. I really don't want to play a popular army cause that's just not my style (for any magic player i played Doran rock during the block season formally known as fae.dec). I enjoy the idea of magic but i kinda want an in your face army but also don't want be wiped off the table cause no one wants to sink money into something to just get blown away. Can someone please help me.

Normally I'd say go with the model you like the look/background of the most, but you seem to like all of 'em

Maybe study the models and see which ones you fancy painting the most?

As to army power, the consensus seems to be that Empire and Dwarves are doing well from this edition, I'm sure there are other good choices too though.
