Specifically anything from this range of products.

I myself just ordered this one, as a major focal point for our Dark Heresy campaign, and it arrived yesterday. It looks great, but, there's one small problem:

How on earth do I flatten it?

It's very thick card-stock, plasticy, laminated - as the website says, like a restaurant menu - and it's huge and folded about 8 times. Any idea how to flatten something like that without ruining it?

Any help would be nice.

I'm just guessing here, but I would think you would need heat and pressure to reset the lamination so maybe an iron?

Would you want to fold it again later? You will probably have the same problem the next time.

Maybe you could just purchase a thick sheet of glass and put it on top.

Roll it up and rubber-band it for a day or two. Be sure that the folds are 'rounded' and not just folded when you roll it (if that makes sense, easier to show than explain). Then lay it flat and put some books on it. In a day or so it'll be ok. As per the above suggestion, if you need it quickly, use a hair-dryer to warm it up and flatten it out.

I have a few mats that came folded or tightly rolled and the books worked just fine. I also store them flat, I use binder clips and clip 3 or 4 (depending on the weight) mats together and then hang them on the wall.

When I need to transport them to a game outside of my home base, I roll them into a 3" dia x 36" cardboard mailing tube, but roll the side you want to use on the outside. Then you can lay it flat and blue-tac the corners if need be for a bit. As play goes on, it will stay.

Hope that helps!!

I would put it on an ironing table, cover with a moist towel, and iron it on medium-low heat. You may need ot up the heat and re-moisten the towel should it take some time. This will leave you one flat plasticy mat.
