Are Chaos demons worth playing in 40k or will they just be slaughtered? I am thinking of starting one but I have never even seen a demons army ever before. Any advice?

I play my daemons regularly, and get good results. Yes they suffer as in any run of 6 games you can expect to have at least oen where it all goes wrong, but conversely you'll get that game where you wipe out the opponent and not loose many VP's yourself.
In the local tournament i've been too, (5 with daemons, won a couple, top 10 all others) I find that there are a couple of difficult matchs (guard, dual lash) but it's not unbeatable, and due to their method of deploying you can really damage some guard with bolts/slaaneshy stuff.
You really need to think a lot more laterally, as facing anyone head on will = loose, and frankly even wins often come up with negative VP's in my experience

So I should use an approach from the sides in which way? Like a pincer maneuver or something else? Also, does the shooting really put them at an advantage? Automatically Appended Next Post: *Disadvantage

sides, back anything really. You need to use all tools at your dispoal, imagine they're advancing towards you, chariot behind to pop a tank.
The shooting isn't amazing, but it helps.
In many ways you're like eldar, right tool for right job.

Daemons have the advantage in that they deep strike anything, so they can appear anywhere. The issues they have are weakish shooting when they arrive, limiting the alpha strike potential, and inability to assault out of deep strike. But good daemon players can do enough damage off the deep strike to set up turn 2-3 assaults and leave unprepared players in rubble.

Let's see, a daemon player in my local group had combined with a CSM player in a 2000 point battle against a necron/ork force. He deepstriked EVERY SINGLE SQUAD off the table, killing them, including his keeper of secrets and Khorne blood-thirster. CSM dude managed to win tho with a lash sorcerer and 2 vindicators

Here is my record playing a Khornate daemon list:
2x best overall, 2x best general, 1x best army
I amassed 11 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss over the course of 15 tournament games. Take at least one icon in each wave to keep bad scatters to a minimum. My one loss was due to a stupid mishap of my big squad of Blood Crushers that had two heralds... I scattered 11" and just clipped a sponson on the opponent's landraider... After they were lost to the warp I then realized I actually had an icon on hte table located in a squad of Bloodletters. I ended up just one point behind the top two players that tied for best overall. If I had used the icon like I should have I would have won best overall by a crushing margin.
People will tell that daemons are very random, that is unpredictable. The ability to deepstrike your entire army is huge and I do the same with my new Blood Angels. Having an entire army that is fearless, invulnerable saves and Eternal Warrior is a huge advantage for daemons. They are the best assault army currently available if you load up on Khorne & Nurgle.
Basically there are several competitive builds:
• Daemonzilla - 2x Greater Daemon & 3x Daemon Prince, all with wings & iron hide.
• hte much dreaded Fatecrusher - Fateweaver, 3x 8x Blood Crushers, 2-3 flying Nurgle Princes, many 5x Plague Bearer units
• Epidemius list - all Nurgle with a couple of Soul Grinders
• Tzneetch Flying Circus
If you want a competitive army then work towards building one of the lists above. What you have now is a hodge podge of several units that don't have much synergy going on.

Just hope you never run into a DE player or Dreadnought lists, or anything with lots of armor. I only have experience with DE vs CD match up but it is severely high in the DE players favor. Daemon monsterous characters aren't that scary anymore they die easily to heavy weapons fire and they are slow. It usually takes 1 turn to kill a DP 2 turns to kill a Greater daemon depending on what flavor, Daemon footsloggers aren't scary at all because you can basically avoid them or stay out of range the entire game. Basically Daemons will not do well when faced against a highly mobile force.

That sucks Black Blow Fly. I didn't know that everything deep-struck. Now I have an itching to play demons....
Is there anything that can deal with armor or are dp's and Greater Demons not enough? What if I gave the dp wings?

Codex aemons was obsolete the moment it came out, but that has nothing to do with its power level and more to do with the fact that it should have never existed in the first place. The emorkticon above is not a mistake.
