Hello guys.
First of all I will say sorry for not updating my washed marine and guard blog for a while Ive done a fair bit but have not gotten around to taking any good pictures I will update it soon.

I thought I would start a new blog for this project as its kind of big for me.
My old man wants me to do him a space wolves army has he has not played for a while and thats what he used to use so I have gotten the first models and started painting them.

Unlike my marine and guard army this will not be a quick job I am doing them pretty much to the best of my abilities spending about 5 hours on each marine.

Here are a few pics of the first two I have painted today the pics are ok but not lightboxed or anything Ill get round to that.

Im kinda doing these also to prove to myself that I can still paint a model properly to a right good standard not just fire out playing models.

Any thought please leave them

Damn, it would probably take me that to get a couple of grots to tabletop standard Think I was over checking out the swimwear models when the speed-painting gene was being spread.

Anyway, very nice, I do like that red against the grey.

Thank you all very much for the nice comments.

The armour is a 2 part shadow grey to 3 part space wolf grey mix I just tiped 5 pots of paint into a tub to make sure it was right and then I can remake it if I run out but thats alot of grey in my pot.

I paint the whole model with that mix then wash it with devlan mud then repick out the armour with the mix and do a little bit of highlighting with space wolves grey.

Ill try and get another one done today but Its my local club night tonight so I dont know if Ill have time.

Those are some sharp looking Space Wolves! Your colors are crisp and strong, and generally very neat. Here's a few things I'd change:
- Drill your barrels! You'd be surprised how much better a bolter looks after you've drilled out the barrel.

- The wolf head on the shoulderpads looks kind of unfinished with just the Space Wolf baby blue. Try white or yellow to give more contrast to the model.

- A note on Space Marine eye lenses - put a white dot in the far corners to make it look shiny. This does a lot more than you'd think!

- Finally, base these models! It pains me to see nice figures sitting on blank black bases.

Yeah I know what your saying about the gun barrels I have a nasty habbit of drilling out the sides when I do it though so I just stoped.

I dunno about the wolf head I liked it grey against the black but I see where your comming from I dont want any yellow on the grey hunters I might try white though.

Bases wise I will do them when there is a squad painted.

The eyes I left just dark from the wash Im not sure what colour to paint them and they look ok anyone got any suggestions for eye colours? Not red I dont want to much red on the helmets.

As stated earlier the highlights need sharpening, I'd also look at the colour contrast between the hair and face of the seconded marine the colours are a little to similar.

Standard blue Wolves, nice all the same.
Not my style as you'll see if you check out my blog.

Still I will keep an eye on how your getting along.

Yes I have looked and your blog I think our styles are a little bit different.

The colours are being a bit screwed up because of the light in my room its also screwing up the highlights a bit. I only did a bit of highlighting on the armour none on anything else let the wash do it as I wanted the colours to keep depth that you sometimes loose when you highlight things especialy red.

What exactly is it you mean by sharpening up the highlights? Do you mean thining them down as I think they are alright from the respect?

Very nice. Your old man is gonna be very pleased by this. quick question: Have you ever planned on doing a character model that resembles your dad? That might make him even more happy. Just throwing it out there though.

I agree with Brother SRM on the white dots on the lenses. But other than that, this a very good looking model.

The space wolf gray shoulder is actually my favorite part of your model. This is the first time i have seen it painted in the armor's color. It brings a really effective contrast especially to the red and black patterns.

Hi chaps.

No I had never thought about doing that model like my old man I dont know how I would go about it especialy as hes got a gut on him and space marines arnt known for that Ill think about it and see what I come up with. It would have to be a terminator to be the right size.

Ive slept on the wolf head bit and I have decided to keep it grey I also feel it is a good contrast. When I do some different troop types I will do it different colours. Probably black on blood claws against their red and yellow and red on long fangs against their black and white.

Your photo's tend to change the models colour (due to different environments). Find a cardboard box and make a cheapo lightbox, then we could give a better opinion about the model. I love the dedication you have put in to paint models for you father, keep up the good work.

Yeah thats my scrat mouse mat it kicks arse.

I have not had much luck with light box so far Ive tried a few times. What I need to do is get some daylight bulbs that will sort me out. Untill then the pics mostly wont be that hot I have not got the best cam either. But the ones I have just took are true for colour they have been taken in daylight.
