You know, the pack of three models (5 for IG and Tyranids). I bought a couple of the cadian ones, since it's actually cheaper to buy them!
Anyway, do you guys buy these for your army, or are they just for painting practice?

I would use them more for painting practise but, if you have enough of them they could add some needed numbers to your army

Imperial Crusaders: 7,500 points
“Brothers, what we do on the battlefield is not just for our chapter but, for the entire Imperium. Every Xenos that falls by our hands will be a testament to our unwavering duty to the Emperor. Every heretic that is crushed under our feet will be a testament to our undying loyalty to the citizens of Imperial Space. We will baptize ourselves in fire and emerge as the most steadfast defenders of humanity.” - qoute from my own homegrown chapter

Yeah, for tyranids too
It only costs 17 bucks to get 10 guardsmen from those packs, but it costs 25 to get 10 from the normal set.
Granted, all your models will look the same, but for guardsmen, who cares? Same with tyranids. I believe if you tried hard enough you could convert those models to have special weapons..Maybe.

You can also use them as casualties because of the massive holes in their chests(IG).

I bought a set to try out new color schemes and I think thats what GW uses for they're painting lessons but other than that I wouldn't use them, even if they are cheaper they all have the same pose and are snapfit models

I Use them to fill out tac squads, that way I don't feel guilty about putting all of the special/heavy weapons on the marines i get out of the regular 10 man tac boxes

I use them for simple pain testing as well as I have bought some just to have some extra bodies since normally when I buy a boc of csm I use most of there special weapons so its jut to even out squads.

The eldar guardian ones are so less annoying to put together than the standard ones Perfect to make one more unit, you intermix these guys in regular squads, and then you'll have enough for that extra unit, they just wont all be one-pose-wonders.

Anyhoo:
Yes. I mean. I would! I would purchase some tactical marines to beef out squads for cheap. If I was going down a min maxing route. If I intended to get use out of my troops, I would dish out the extra for the nice models.

Only once to fill out a tac squad. The best use for them is as everyone says, fill out squads cheaper and paint practice.
