Basically, I plan on doing a unit of Ymgarl Stealers based on Tyranid Warriors and figured Lictor heads would be great for them. But, after browsing through a few different bitz sites, I can't find any that sell individual heads and I don't want to buy whole models. Also want to know the same with Pyrovore guns.

All ideas and suggestions welcome.

They're not Lictor heads, but Chapterhouse has some Genestealer head variants that might work fairly well. And all kinds of weapons.

Why Warrior sized?

And why the Pyrovore gun?

I think that Ymgarl Genestealers should be bigger and scarier than your average Space Hulh lurkers. And the only warrior sized creature with tetacles is the Lictor, or maybe the Venomthrope.
As for the Pyrovore gun, well can you say Tyrannofex?

I don't know. Ymgarl Stealers are actually the same as regular Stealer, besides their constant mutation. But if you won't change your mind, I'd suggest an incredibly simple conversion involving a FT Genestealer head and a Warrior crest.

And the Pyrovore gun, I'm pretty sure that would take too much conversion to be worth it really. And even if you manage to pull it off, it could only represent Acid Spray.

Lictor heads are actually pretty similar in size to genestealer heads.

As for the heads, I've had an idea and won't be using Lictor or Stealer heads, I'm ignoring your comment about how hard it's going to be, because if I don't try I'll never know if I could do it and how could a humungous gun only represent acid spray?

To the rest of you, I'm still wishing to know where you can get Pyrovore guns from.

If you really have that big a problem finding heads you could really just get one head and press mold the others. Just get some GS or milliput press the head into it and wait for it to dry then press some more into the drz mold and "Walla!!" half a head... if you do one for each half then after a bit of filing and gluing and more filing you will have a head. Its not that hard... i just press molded loads of terminator parts i needed and it worked like a charm.

Ignore tim the biovore, apparently he's never heard that the tyranids are constantly evolving and changing thier design, or that we're encouraged to go for far out, original conversions with them.

Pyrovore guns are, unfortunately, attatched to the torso/tail of the pyrovore kit, which makes up 70~80% -ish of the total weight of that figure. It is possible to do the conversion, but you'll waste a huge amout of expensive metal in addition to the cost of the (I assume carnifex) that you're basing it off. And the conversion will be a NIGHTMARE to pull of. Very possible, but you may well contemplate suicide before you even get halfway through it.

Just my 2 cents.

Ah, some one is talking sense I see. Had a look at Lictors, Venomthropes and Feeder Tentacle stealers today at the nearest GW. All are similar sizes, but Lictor heads are the look I'm going for.

As for the Tyrannofex, any ideas? A Biovore perhaps? I can fill gaps and sculpt minor details with GS but my skills with the stuff definately aren't citadel design team standard. Basically, I want a nice big organic gun that resembles the Tyrannofex art in the codex. I can do conversions but I want to stay away from sculpting as much as possible.
So, there you have it.
Any ideas still?

Hmm, no, the Biovore seems to have the same problem.

And what was the idea for the heads?

Heads:

1: Use a warrior head as the base, cut thefront of the face from a tenticle stealer head and add to the front (will take a bit og gap filling)

2: (looks better, but a bit more work) put a warrior head together as normal, cut the jaw off, use GS to sculpt tenticles. (can allways use thin wire as a structure for this)


Gun:

You dont need alot of sculpting to make it work.

A: use the stranglethorn cannon arms as the basis.
B: cut the gun at the barrel.
C: find an old pen casing or something similar in size and add that onto the gun section.
D: use old spare carapace plates over the top of the "barrel" you have made, this covers a nice area on top and helps with the look.
E: Sculpt a bit of inner barrel detail with GS (stops it looking like an old pen)
F: add in some sculpted vains / fleshy areas with GS.


Simple and effective.

He is going for that look, he didnt state he wants only lictor heads.


And why would the gun not be organic?
Just because its not taken straight from another model does not make it look any less organic.

Ah, fair enough, I didn't read the 'look' part of that, but as for organic he said he could 'fill gaps and sculpt minor details', so that does limit how organic anything he scratch builds can look.
