So i have been trolling the Dakka Boards for a while, i think i am posting in the right place. I was thinking about a Pre-Heresy army. Thousand Sons. But using Space Wolf rules due to the hq rules that they have. I wanted to see if that i legal..or GT legal for that matter. Because i want to have libbies in army that are abundant. Any other suggestions to what dex to use minus Vanilla Marine Dex

I think that the SW Codex is an excellent one to use to represent Pre-Heresy armies:

Varied squad sizes, powerful HQ's, powerful "Librarians", etc.

Plus, in this case, the irony is awesome!

Yeah, it is a good codex for it. Having 4 librarians would be awesome for small point games, a Librarian for every squad

I remember reading through my Tempus Fugitives Heresy rules a few days ago. Wish I was in that campaign, as Thousand Sons you could have a mini-librarian for the squad leader.

Retained the original equipment, so you could have an assault leader with a power first and smite!

sO I Wrote up a quick 1850 list....based on my knowledge in my head for the list...
I didnt have the book infront of me so maybe it a little off but if i am let me know.

2 units of 10 Grey Hunters with 2 melta, Pf, rhino-420
1 unit of 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma, Power Weapon, PP, Rhino-225
2 Land Speeders with HF, MM- 100
2 Typhoons, one with HF-190

Wolf Guard Termies-275
4-with Combi weapon, Frost Blade\
1 with CML CF, Combi Weapon


layout is this...all the Grey Hunters are going to be Robed DA veterans, The Priests are going to be the Ezekiel and some other regular Libbie. THe termie libbie is going to be the Brother Captain Stern. The Termies are going to be Grey Knight termies...THoughts?

Remember that all RP's must be equipped differently. Easiest way would be to drop the runic armor from the last RP. Also, drop all the plasma pistols. With their awesome offensive psychic powers, they are never going to use those pistols.

Wolf Guards need a ride in the form of a Land Raider. I'd say drop some of the typhoons and the CML. Footsloggin or deepstriking termies = dead termies.

Uh...I'm confused. Are you looking to build a pre-heresy Thousand Sons army or Dark Angels army?

@ JY Im using the robed bodies for pre-heresy marines...i have a DA army already. Im looking for a way to use the extra robed bodies i have. I am just going to be converting and using these models as basis for a pre-heresy army. What raider should i go with for this list? Redeemer or a Crusader, Regular onE?

Redeemer would be interesting, although the normal land raider would be the Horus Heresy correct one, along with getting the Horus Heresy land raider upgrade kit from Forge World.

Also, I like the idea of the robes, since the librarians do wear red robes.

I hope you start a WIP page, because I definitely want to see you do this. Very promising!
