Interesting article on how scientists cracked the mystery as to how DaVinci got the ML so perfectly blended.
30 layers baby. Pretty damn good accomplishment given what kinds of paints he had to work with. Oils aren't exactly the easiest to thin and make look good.
What's even better is they can tell the exact pigments used to achieve various colors. I want that scanning tool.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

On the contrary, oils are the perfect media for smooth blending of tones.
The Dutch and Flemish painters made the transition to oils with glazes and subtle tones.
Leonardo could be pretty gakk at painting techniques. The Last Supper painted in oils instead of using Buono Fresco for the mural was disastrous.
Possibly he wanted the same tonal effects which couldn't be acheived by mural painting.

PS I love it when the glossary gives silly definitions
how DaVinci got the ML so perfectly blended
translates as
how DaVinci got the Missile Launcher/MultiLaser so perfectly blended
I know Da Vinci is famous for his sketched inventions but this sort of weaponry?

Dark Angel Vinci (techmarine) was excommunicated by the Mechinicus for his extensive innovations with weapons.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Great, just what I need!
When I was finally starting to be happy with my own painting, now I've got to compete with Da Vinci!
It took me years to get past the pro hart stage!
