I know there are third party options out there, many of which look great, but they won't be allowed in many tournaments. Furthermore, if GW TWC models do come out, I'd be kinda screwed out of $100-$150 as even less people would allow the 3rd party creations. A model made out of mostly or entirely GW parts, would likely be acceptable in all circumstances, assuming the size is not really different from the eventual model. Options:

- Converted Canis. How difficult would it be to modify Canis, so that he's holding a close combat weapons, or a storm shield or a frost blade?

- Juggernaut / Bloodcrusher that I keep hearing about. My green stuff skill is non-existent, so I couldn't make them wolf-like, but I reckon this could work too?

- Third option using GW parts I don't know about. Ideas?

Now the first two options assumes that TWC use 60mm bases like Canis, which assumes that Canis isn't riding a freakishly large thunderwolf. I am new at this game, so this may be naive, but it is possible at all to get guidelines from GW as to the base size for TWC?

I think the Juggernaut will be your b est bet. It looks like a beast already - all you really need to do is cut the horns off. then add some SW bits. Just make it a mechanical wolf.

When the Bloodcrushers come out in plastic in August, it's a pretty decent way to get them going. 3 for 45 bucks or so; just add Space Wolves to fit. Unless of course you wanted to do a counts-as World Eaters army using them, which would be completely and totally awesome.

Definite possibility. For some reason I thought the plastic ones were already out. My search fu is weak, as I cannot find the release date. Anyone know when the plastic versions go on sale?

Early August. I bet its somewhere in the News and Rumors Thread on the daemons release.

Chaos Knights work pretty well.

Disagree- Chaos Knights look like Chaos Knights, not Thunderwulf Cavalry. Any of the cav based stuff just looks too puny.

Bloodcrushers will need plenty of GS work to not just look like Bloodcrushers. HE lions from the chariot kit would probably be an easier base to work with.

Ehh, if you'd rather spend $25 as opposed to $200, they'll work fine, with Space Wolf torsos, on 60mm bases until the proper models come out.

HamHamLunchBox, nice pic! Ridiculous name, but nice pic. Heh.

jmurph and others, short of paying someone boatloads to make things nice with greenstuff (since I suck at it), I am going to have to pick the GW beasty that looks closest to a wolf or an armored wolf, WITHOUT any greenstuffing whatsoever. Under these restraints, it seems to me that the plastic bloodcrushers would work the best.
