first paint them in the desired color?-. Then try adding tiny black stripes where you want your battle damage. then go over it with a metal color, but leave the edges of the stripe black. Hope this helped. I will still post the that white dwarf edition once though.

take a look in the modeling tutorials here on dakka. don't stop after page 1, keep looking.

There is an Article about weathering with Marmite. The same basic soft of technique works with jam or salt.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Kilkrazy thank you very much. Do you think that effect would work on single mini..??

I was wondering the same thing myself, actually. Someone should get around to testing that. I would, but I'd be too lazy.

I'd say go for it, so long as you're careful with your application of the Marmite. If you get too much on, just wash it off and try again. There really isn't much that can go wrong.

The easiest effect can be done by lightly sponging on a mixture of scorched brown and black. This is a nice random effect and can be furthered by correcting chips with a fine detail brush... I used this technique on the sentinel bellow which you may have seen.

Another way which is a little harder and more controlled is to highlight the armour in small jagged shapes in areas where you want the chips. Then paint small jagged paint chips with the mix mentioned earlier on these areas leaving some of the original highlighting around the edge. If you want to get a rusty effect use thinned down artists' oils and bend and run them into and around the chips, as seen on the sentinel.

Hope this helps.

Chris

What I do is paint the scratches themselves siliver, and then painting dark grey inside of those scratches. The first layer would be paint and the second layer would be structure.

Off-topic: (based on your avatar) you're a gorillaz fan too?
