Finished this a little while ago (as a commission). So, I thought I would post it up and see what other people thought of the unit.

Here you go. All kinds of commentary are welcome.

Really cool. Love the battle damage and weathering. Maybe pin out the barrels on the storm bolter though?

Oh, the age old "drill out the bolters" question. I'm honestly always a little surprised to see how many people are so adamant about it online, when I've hardly ever met anyone who does it. I rarely think about it when I'm actually assembling or painting minis, but it always comes up.

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder if I should have just done some black dots on the end, though.

Well it's just that you've put so much realism into the models, which are awesome by the way, only to be let down by something which takes seconds.
Especially since you're on commission. I'd be a little disappointed if I paid for undrilled barrels.
Please don't get me wrong I think you did a stellar job on these guys, proper gritty feel to them!

These are really sweet! Its not often you see a well executed halved paint job, not to mention a red and white one!

Personally, i agree with the op's "drill you barrels" complaint. it seems like when you put "C&C welcome" on a post it immediately means everyone will tell you to drill your barrels.

It looks like a scaled down version of the Chaos Terminator shoulder pad

It's a standard Libby model.

Loving the colors and the weathering. The undrilled (or dotted) barrels do detract from them though (almost like mold lines). The banner freehand looks a bit unfinished but it could be from the folds and angle. The skin and faces are excellent!

In other words they give C&C? Imagine that!

Well, it makes plenty of sense for there to be so much commentary.

The thing that I think is a little odd is the fact that so many people online feel so strongly about the drilling of bolter barrels.

Really because in person I've known a lot of gamers in a lot of areas and it always seems like drilling out your barrels is a sort of rare obsession. Sure, I've known some people who do it, but all of them accept that most people don't, and don't have a problem with that.

Even some of the times that I've done it, people have looked at me like I was crazy.

Because of this, I have and do drill barrels out for clients, but only upon request (not automatically).

I think that's reasonable, considering my experiences in the real world, but the online community seems so different, I wonder sometimes.

I like the overall appearence of the Libby but the battle damage doesn't look like real enough and Libbys eyes look slightly too big but stuble on the mine is really nice addition.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

lovely detail and overall look is nice and clear Should look brilliant on tabletop and still look extremely well done up close.

I have to jump on this barrel-drilling-train too ;
I think it looks better to drill em, just as it does to leave the outerline of the base black. This does not mean anything tough as I am not in any way an authority figure and everyone is entitled to whatever soothes their own need of the esthetic
And yes I drill my guns
