thats... an interesting way to spell apocalypse.

hardest unit to kill is without a doubt the 10 th/ss blood angel terminators with attached sanguinary priest. 2+/3+ saves, with FNP?

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

yeah but a c'tan or 10 pariahs & lord with warscythe could cut a nice hole right in the middle of that squad without to much dificulty

Terminators in general, because I always have the worst luck in the world cracking them open.

If I'm running Termies, I guarantee you I will fail at least one armor save every shooting phase. Even against crap gunners like Orks.

If my opponent is running them, he/she will always make every armor save forever. If I'm using power weapons, he/she will always make his/her invuln saves. It's awful.

Granted this has nothing to do with the practical crackability of Terminators, just my consistently awful rotten luck.

But there it is.

Well... that wraps this thread up quite nicely...

Now we wait for Melissia to come by and state that some sisters unit is.

Though... they're pariahs... so I believe there is a phrase for that...

Auto-win! That's it!

Seriously, a squad of ten pariahs, and that necron list is bound to go down hard.

Neither of those units can stand a chance in the shooting phase.

Terminators have a 2+ followed by a 4+...

best sisters can do is a 3+ invul save. terminators can do a 2+ armor with a 3+ invul and fnp on the entire unit

no comparison.

Can't you just spend a faith point and make your celestian (2+) go invuln for a turn?

I'd have to go for a tricked out, Fortuned Jetseer Council.

I'm fairly sure the power says you gain an invulnerable save equal to your unmodified armor save... the cloak modifies your armor to a 2+, so I don't think you get the 2+ invulnerable. Not sure though, don't have my pdf at work.

Anyway, the question was hardest unit... not hardest IC

Nope, sisters can get a 2+ invulnerable. Artificer I believe, may be mixing books.

fate weaver's 3+ inv with re-rolls it quite good

yea, fateweaver is good and all, but there are ways of taking him out :( some weapons straight up ignore invulnerable saves (c'tan, psycannons, incinerators, calidus assassins)... while other units can force them to be re-rolled (giving him an effective 3+ invulnerable save without a re-roll)... and he's 333 points. I wouldn't ever take fateweaver in a competitive list, just because there are SO many counters for him. Not to mention the whole "take a leadership test each wound" thing... with PBS out there to lower his leadership to 2, thats not exactly a good situation to be in.

Unless a unit has a good armor save to back up its invulnerable save, Its not all THAT durable :(

and again, I thought we were talking about the most durable unit, not IC :(

yea, that units a pain in the ass, no doubt. always getting a 3+ or 4+ cover save is annoying. I always thought the rule for their 4+ cover save should be more like... "if they have moved more than 6" in the previous turn, they get a 4+ cover save".... to prevent them from turbo boosting directly into your face, then next turn charging 2" into you, consolidating 2" away, and still getting a 4+ cover save.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Biker nobs, seer council on jetbikes, or TH/SS/FNP terminators. All are annoying for different reasons, all pretty damn hard to remove. I'd go with the TH/SS termies overall.

I'm going to have to say Terminators. I played deathwing for a while and had INSANE luck.

One game I had a terminator squad (lightning claws, not storm shields) survive seven turns of roughly 800 points of Eldar shooting while only losing one guy.

The Seraphs of Thunder: a homebrew, almost entirely converted successor Deathwing. And also some Orks. And whatever else I have lying around.

I'm gonna derail slightly as I feel you men the hardest unit to use effectively which is. . . . . .. . . .THE SPACE POPE!

That aside, defintely the BA TH/SS termies w/ sanguinary priest.

I think a better question would be, what is the toughest unit against _______ . seeing as there is always a counter to every unit in the game, thus 'balance' or the semblence thereof.

10 chaos bikers with mark of Nurgle give them toughness (6) and allow them to move 12inches and fire their twin linked bolters every turn, that may not be much, but if your alllying with a daemon owned (possibly cheapbuster) who has epidemus then they have a 3+ Feel no pain and if the tally gets high enough all attacks ignore armour saves! i know that they wouldn't stand a chance against termies in combat but good luck with 5 termies hitting on 3s and wounding on 6s with storm bolters, and then they get 3+ plus fnp

Throws all practicality out the window as well as utterly bankrupting you on points but Farsight with full bodyguard and a second commander attached, all with dual shield drones and shield generators. Mix and match the rest of their gear for wound allocation. Over 30 wounds with 4+ inv and a few extra that are only 3+ armor. Of course, there are much better ways to spend 1200 points or so.

I remain unimpressed. Untill you find BA assault termies with 8 void sheilds and 12 structure points, the ball is firmly in the court of the imperetor Titan.

Do'h, the OP edited the qualifications... I am changing my ansewer to fortuned BA terminators.
