Scince the new codex relese the hierophant has become some what over powered.

i was wondering if its weapons and powers can be used with the new rules in which case it has:

warp field- so 3+ inv (as well as its 2+ armour)

Toxic miasma- toughness test for all enemys in base contact, wounds if faild (think of how many enemys can be fit into one hierophant base)

and scything talons two sets- which would give re-rolls to hit

so can any one tell me if these do work like that or if the old codex would have to be used?

Did you know? Every sunday from 12 to 5 pm you can get a carvery for £6.95 at the pudding and pye.

We just talked about its save here.

The consensus is that it is overpowered for it's cost if using the new 3++ Warp Field rules.

Thus, I'd recommend to either increase it's cost, use the old 6++ Warp Field the way it was intended to be, or somewhere in between. Just talk with your Apoc group and come up with an agreement before the game.

Eveything else should follow the new Tyranid codex.

BTW, it has only 1 set of scything talons, not 2. Thus it only re-rolls the 1's to hit in assault.

From an ultra strict RAW rule perspective (which probably has no place in an Apocalypse game) it has the Warp Field power, which provides Zoanthropes an invulnerable save, it is not a Zoanthrope, ergo no save.

In either case, as in the linked thread, house rules of one sort or another are probably the best choice.

The rules:
1) Style over Substance.
2) Attitude is Everything.
3) Always take it to the Edge.
4) Break the Rules.

I am wondering how many of the "No Warp Field! QQ" crew realize this is in proposed rules.

Didn't this argument come up with the DoM?

"not a zoanthrope, no invul!"

Yea, and GW basically said "We gave it the ability--it can use it!"

Bah. The DoM is already powerful enough!

I'm actually surprised that they didn't just make another special rule for the heriophant instead of using one for something totally different.

I'm sure it's invul save is nothing even close to how a zoan's works. Why even call it the same thing?

As a note, however, read the Toxic Miasma rules. Then the Gargantuan creature Assault rules. It will be oddly rare for the miasma to ever apply.

As for why they gave it that ability and not its own. . .lack of willpower perhaps?
As a psychic power the creature is immune to it, as it has no S value (as Synapse used to be -- that always made me laugh).
