Brother-Annihilator Zahariel

Last of the Honor Guard to the Emperor

Zahariell was the most powerful psyker to be found during the Great Crusade, only surpassed by Magnus the Red and the Immortal Emperor himself. He saved the Emperor's life on Caliban, and was chosen to join the Brother-Annihilators, the personal Honor Guard to the Emperor. When the Horus Heresy landed on Terra, Zahariel was by the Emperor's side, smashing heretic's apart with his weapon of choice, a blessed hammer. After the fighting died down, The Emperor spoke to the last remaining members of his Guard, and asked them to hold off all attackers from His personal quarters. They did just so, not knowing that the emperor has initiated his plan to bring down Horus. The Brother-Annihilators, Zahariel included, took off to His quarters, and held it for a day and a night. Venturing out the next morning, they discovered Horus' Battle-Barge crashed outside the fortifications. When scouring across the wreckage, they spot the near-death Emperor. It is at this moment that Zahariel began to lose his mind. cradling the Emperor in their arms, the Brother-Annihilators knew not what to do with the broken body. When the first signs of life appeared, it was the Imperial Fists. When Rogal Dorn first came down to Terra, he was horrified at what he saw. Dorn rushed over to the crashed ship, and could not believe what he saw. He screamed at the Brothers, shouting that they failed their sacred duties. Dorn hefted his hammer and smashed two Brothers in the chest with it, killing them. As they tried to escape, the Chapter opened first, slaying all but one. Zahariel had managed to slip himself into the warp. 5,000 years later, he reappeared on The Rock. Not knowing who this Golden armored stranger was, Captain Uriel tried to communicate with him. The only words he could muster were "... The Emperor is dead..." Beveling he was a member of the Fallen, Uriel silenced him with a blow to the head. The Watchers, looking at this spectacle, took Zahariel, and moved him to the bowels of The Rock. Over the past 5,000 years, Zahariel has lost whatever remained of his mind. He still carries with him his Hammer, dubbed "Vengeance" by onlookers to the battles he has fought, and the Golden Armor, a powerful suit of armor that can stop any weapon.

WARGEAR:

Vengeance: The hammer given to Zahariel by the Emperor himself. It counts as a thunder hammer, but if a 6 is rolled to wound, it ignores invulnerable saves.
Golden Armor: the Armor worn by the Brother Annihilator is impenetrable by most weaponry. It confers a 2+ armor save and a 3+ inv save.
Emperor's fury: A bolter created to only be used by Zahariel. It is a master crafted bolter.

PSYCHIC POWERS:

Deathsayer: Zahariel burns the image of the dying Emperor into his fellow brothers, causing them to fight even harder. All friendly units within 12" of Zahariel gain Relentless. This is used before the movement phase.


Void: Opening up a rift into the warp below him, Zahariel can stop anyone in their tracks. Place a large blast so that it is touching Zahairel. All units under the template are hit on a 4+, and killed on a 3+. This power causes instant death, regardless of toughness. This power can only be used once per game.

Dark Angel: Zahariel knows all powers available to the Dark Angels.

SPECIAL RULES
Independent Character, Fearless, Furious Charge, Eternal Warrior, Master Psyker, Madman

Master Psyker: Zahariel may use 3 psychic powers per turn.

Madman: After all the ordeals Zahariel has been through, he has not come out the same. To represent this, roll a D6 before the game starts to test Zahariel's mind.

1- Ruled by Revenge: Zahariel has gone completely insane, and has become a super human wrecking ball. He gains Relentless and Rage.
2-5: Snapped to his Senses: Zahariel has overcome his madness and has gone sane, for now. he loses Fearless, and gains Stubborn.
6: Driven by the Emperor: Beveling that the Emperor has chosen him to live for a purpose, he becomes a Valorous hero, able to overcome any obstacle. He gains Stubborn and Preferred Enemy

Is this for normal 40k or Apocalypse? What is the points cost?

I can't comment on Apoc, but for regular 40k, he seems pretty damn overpowered, and his fluff contradicts existing stuff that states (IIRC) that Rogal Dorn found the Emperor just after he had killed Horus and the Big E gave Dorn his instructions.

I was thinking for the points, maybe 275.

The point of the Rogal Dorn thing was to show how these guys were never seen or heard from again Dorn wiped the all out (but one) and pretended they were never there.

Really Mary-Sue fluff, you might want to stop with the "PERSONAL EMPEROR GUARD, MOST POWERFUL PSYKER NEXT TO MAGNUS AND THE BIG E!!!".

I'm also not quite sure why the supposed Honour Guard of the Emperor wouldn't have been with him when he went to Horus' ship, given that Custodes and at least 2 primarchs were there, also where do these guys fit with the Custodes?

It also doesn't make sense why "the most powerful psyker" would be relegated to being a bodyguard. Wouldn't it make for sense for him to be the main librarian of the chapter?

He seems way over-powered. Some of his wargear seems more fitting for a primarch than for a mere honour guard. His stats are off the charts, and a LD8 psyker?!? Can we say "stuffed by the psychic hood".

I do hope you know his "guard" was the Adeptus Custodes, and none of them were Psykers, nor did they all die.


That aside, I like the idea of an Invulnerable Rending hammer

Zahariel was on Caliban when all of this went down and is a member of the fallen. IIRC most of the Custodes are psykic blanks anyways so they couldn't fooled my the old jedi mind trick (these are not the traitors you are looking for). Also Zahariel wasn't even grand master librarian but just a librarian still learning his powers. the only thing him and the emperor share is that assassination attempt and getting his mind altered by the emperor and the grand master librarian.

I'd say give his WS6 and Initiative 6

Your fluff makes no sense at all.
It directly contradicts several GW canon background pieces, and just screams of fanwankery. "My guy is the uber bestest friend of the emperor and the best psyker and he actually did all these things that the background said happened different ways"

Seriously, just step away from the keyboard, and think about what you have written.

This screams MAary-Sue all over it, im sorry nothin good to say about this, way to damn anoying with the "so powerfull/ personal Emprah bodygaurd" so im jsut goin to stop now......
