This is where, I think, Vulkan comes into his own. Small army, so has to be highly powerful.
Therefore mastercrafted and twin-linked really help

You don't need the power fists mate or the extra armour. Save those points could get you a full tactical squad, maybe or even better yet a multi melta Speeder.

you need to take 2 tac squads...

you can only do one full tac squad and a 5 man if they're both in rhinos

Yeah get a full squad and ditch the extras. Not like 5 Marines are gonna win much fights and not exactly in a hurry to get into range either.

Once that Land Raider gets shut down, you run out of steam very fast.

Dark Eldar, Eldar, and any melta-heavy list is going to pop that Raider and that's 1/4 of your army gone.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

in a small force like that I'll use:

HQ
vulkan 190

Tropps

tactical squad 10x 230
flamer, powerfist, laser, razorback, armor

scout squad 5x 100
4x sniper, 1x heavybolter/missle launcher, camo cloaks

Elite

ironclad dreddy 170
meltagun, heaveflamer, dreadnought hand to hand weapon, chainfist, heavy flamer, drop pod, grenade launcher

Fast attack

2x land speeder 140
heavyflamer, multimelta

heavy support

Thunderfire cannon 100

tot should be 970points

the scout+techmarine= 2+ cover

the speeder have a large amount of fire and you can destroy transport and then burn the poor men that were inside. the thunderfire give a monstrous amount of fire. the dreadnought is the classical monster that comes from the sky and start burning people; it also become the main target of the enemy giving to your speeder a turn or two of peace that you must use to vindicate the dreadnought (it rarely survive).

If you are going to drop a suicide dread, might I suggest a a regualr dread with a MM and HF. 20 points cheaper and more room for error with drop podding as double pen will be 12" on the MM.

I second the motion for a vanilla dread!

What's the point of bringing in a nearly 200 point commander if you only have two flamers and one multi-melta? Spend those points on more units and more melta!

Black mesa

cause if you want to play salamanders you have to play vulkan... pretty simple. anyway the twin linked speeder can be really worth of 190 points.... and vulkan himself is worth of that points!

I suggust you to recount the flamer and meltas anyway cause there are much more of them.....

Thats three.

YOUR LIST, on the other hand, holds 7. But thats not what we're talking about, were talking about the OP's list.
