I'm buying models for an 1850 list and thought I would post the list I'm building up for some feedback. I posted this on another forum last week and received no replies. Hopefully I can get a little feedback here.

Quick Plan on how the army will be played:
Combat squad the mounted Tactical Squads, putting the plasma Cannons in the back Field for fire support with the Vindicator and Predator. I'll attempt to set up overlapping fire lanes with the 10 man Tactical Squad that's on foot along with the two Combat Squadded Plasma Cannon teams and Two tanks. Ideally the Plasma Cannons are in a ruin that has been Bolstered by Lysander's ability.

Lysander with the 10 Terminators walk up the middle of the table or a board edge supported by the Razorbacks with Assault Cannons. The Powerfist Sarge and Melta marines are mounted in the Razorbacks. The Marines can dismount to melta a target if desperate, or can counter assault something that ties up the Terminators to leverage their power fists.

The Scouts can fly to an objective to claim/contest it on the far side of the table or counter charge an enemy unit that assaults the Terminators and take advantage of the Storm's Cerebus Launcher's negative Leadership modifier in the event that it will help the Terminators win a close combat round and force the enemy to break - this might be decisive as the Terminators cannot Sweep or Run Down an enemy while the Scouts can.

Another option is to Scout move them pre-game and suicide kill an enemy tank forcing the opponent to deal with the unit in his back field.

I'd appreciate feedback as I'm hoping to take this to Adepticon next year and need to get to painting. Thanks all.

One Problem, Razorbacks can't take ten men.....

Wow....great advice...

anyway...

Storm is better off with the twinlinked assault cannon, since the BS is 3.

I think the vindicator is out of place, I would look for more anti-tank in my army. Maybe for my combat squads get lascannons and get twinlinked lascannons for my razors instead. I just don't see you popping much armor with this list without losing troops since you can't fire out of a razorback.

I've been thinking that the Vindicator is out place in the list too. Drat. What would be a good alternative to it? A Predator with TL Lascannons?

On the Razorbacks I've gone back and forth on TL Lascannons or Assault Cannons. The Assault Cannons actually do pretty well against high armor targets believe it or not due to the rending combined with the twin linking. I'm more concerned about the Assault Cannon's shorter ranger than anything right now. 24" isn't all that far...

dont worry about that.

the terminators shouldnt have any problems finding a target and the razorbacks maybe loose one or two turns of shooting, but after 1 or 2 turns you should be fine.

dont forget that your enemy will move as well

Thanks for the reply guys.

What do you think of doubling up with two Vindicators or two Predators instead of one of each? I was toying with the idea of driving the Razorbacks behind the Vindicators as they move forward. Has anyone tried that?

Id try to get to something like this:

HQ:
Captain Darnath Lysander
Wargear: Fist of Dorn, Storm Shield

Elites:
10 man Tactical Terminator Squad
Wargear: One Chain Fist , Two Cylcones + Sergeant with Power Sword and Storm Bolter

Troops:
10 man Tactical Squad -mounted in Razorback with Twin Linked HB with pintle mounted SB
Wargear: Flamer; Plasma Cannon + Sergeant with Combi-Flamer and Power Fist

10 man Tactical Squad -mounted in Razorback with Twin Linked HB with pintle mounted SB
Wargear: Meltagun, Plasma Cannon + Sergeant with Combi-Melta and Power Fist

10 man Tactical Squad - mounted in Razorback with Twin Linked HB with pintle mounted SB
Wargear: Flamer, Missile Launcher + Sergeant with Combi-Flamer and Power Weapon

5 man Scout Squad
Wargear: Bolt Pistols and Combat Blades + Scout Sergeant with Melta Bombs, Combi-Meltagun and Power Fist

Fast Attack:
Land Speeder Storm with Multi-Melta for the Scouts
Land Speeder MM and HF
Land Speeder MM and HF

Dakka Predator

I like long range weapons for walking Terminators.

I think all scoring troop choices should be mounted up, those transports really give you a lot of tactical options. I readjustments the Tactical squad weapons load outs. I like the scouts and storm. I added 2 more speeders to provide cover. The Dakka Pred is so cheap its hard to say no to.

kaiservonhugal: Great list feedback. Can I ask why all of the squads are equipped with different Wargear? Is it to avoid appearances of spam or more for tactical flexibility?

I'm worried that with out Assault Cannons or TL Lascannon I will struggle versus armor, but the Speeders with Multimelta's are in that role now, correct?

I matched the combi weapons on the SGT's with the special weapon in the squad. I figured these would be moving in the Razorbacks leaving the heavy weapons to provide cover. You could drop both PC's for a ML and a LC in the squads.

Yeah the MM speeders, Cyclone MLs and dedicated melta squads all help out with AT.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

You provided some great food for thought. Thanks again. Cheers!

Try to find points to give one of your SGT's a teleport homer for those times you want to Deepstrike those Termies.... You could exchange one Razorback for a single drop pod. When not deepstriking the Termies just set up the drop pod as you would a Razorback Squad in your deployment zone. WHen you want to Deepstrike though - throw the pod out where you want and have the termie drop in for support....

I was thinking of doing this with the Scout squad by giving the Scout Srg. a Teleport Homer. If I needed to I could infiltrate the Scouts with out the Deepstrike disrupting Storm and then sent the Storm off solo. Then Deepstrike off of the Scouts with the Terminators.

I'm afraid that someone canny will see what I'm doing and notice the Scout Srg with the Homer and annihilate them. But with Lysander's Fortify rule, and by placing the scouts in cover they should be pretty resilient and soak up a lot of fire.
