ahh yes in most cirumstances this would be totally true and i would agree completley but this army in particular has been declared by the owner that it is a heretical style army so basically like chaos Automatically Appended Next Post: but it still uses the space marine codex so do you have any more advice and tips

Theres are loads of things are good at killing marines. The codex is crammed full of them.
Of the top of my head
Infantry wise your looking at Plasma, lots of Flamers (make them roll a lot of saves they'll fail a few), power blobs (30 man combined squad with PW on the sergeant and a commissar with PW). I'd use a power blob over conscripts they just plain suck.
Rough riders can work well.
Vehicles is where a lot of our anti MEQ is there are a load of options with AP3 or better. LRBT and Basilisk just of the top of my head.
Is there a particular circumstance that you need help with e.g. deepstriking marines? or is just generic advise you want?

I had some good experience with the Leman Russ Demolisher (that large s10 Ap2 blast really hurts), the Leman Russ Executioner (all that plasme is quite effectiv against space marines), the Leman Russ Vanquisher with Pask against Land Raiders and finaly with Sly Marbo. Marbo's demo pack is really nice against concentrations of space marine infantery. In addition to that, after throwing his democharge he can run around and harass tanks with his meltabombs or assault some enemies. In one game I played, he killed a whole bunch of CSM and destroyed a Land Raider.
These units aren't exactly the core of your army but could definatly hurt your enemy

look space marines are tough in comparison to the general guardsmen 4 to hit 5 to wound however thats y guard use tanks go for in demolisher is my personal favourite but try a lot of diffrent combos the executioner also works well with plasma side sponsons and a heavy bolter to kill those last couple strgglers so think about it and never ever use a valkrie unless you have so mega tactic that cant fail ( but it usually will) ps if anyones wondering im the spacemarine jollys talkin about so all this stuff i no i can counter now build another list idea or whatever then ill stil beat it joolys never beaten me and never will

Well as mentioned before, lots of ways to kill those pesky Sm, Leman Russ with Nova cannon and plasma sponsons work. Same do Lascannons and Manticore artiliry. Or if your feeling sadistic, Baneblades do wonders aganit the Sm

You can use Creed's "tactical Genius" in combination with a squadron of Bane Wolf's
If everything goes well it you can kill a whole squad of marines in one turn.

I suggest using Vendettas instead of Valkyries and complement them with nasty heavy tanks. Don't go for objectives with them until the last 2 turns. You opponent should be more focused on the more deadly tanks than the vendetta, while you fly flat out towards the objective. In the turns before just use it as long range AT. Take out his transports with it and skimmers. Leave the AV14 stuff to melta vets/stormtroopers. You could also consider flying flat out during the scout move before the game starts to get them closer to the objective and get their cover save or you could try what no one else I have ever heard of has done and actually deep strike them. I have yet to see or read about anyone doing that though.

My experience with most objective-based games is that they're never placed too far from the table edge, since many players like to have as much distance as possible between where the enemy deploys and where their home objective is. Don't forget that Valkyries and Vendettas can Outflank as well as Deepstrike, and you can flat-out move as you Outflank. If you keep that plane in reserve, you can swoop in from the side to contest it late in the game, though I'd make sure you've cleared off most of the enemies first to make sure it's not immediately shot to the Warp.

Bear in mind that I'm a very casual player, and any advice I give will reflect that tendency.

One thing i HATE is units working with basilisks/LRBT's. a guard HWS with autocannons (or two or three!) opening up a rhino/razorback, then the bassy or lemon shelling the juicy candy... the space marines that come out. Very easy with good dice rolls to wipe a whole squad, or at least reduce them to a few survivors.

Take a careful look through your codex.
Are there any ways to take guns that have AP3 or better, or weapons which ignore armor in assault? If the answer is "yes", then take lots of those. If the answer is "no", then switch over to being a space marine player.

I bring 4 Vet. Squads with Chimeras in 1500+ games. These squads are filled with Meltas and Plasma and with the BS of 4 you hit what your shooting at. Those weapons destroy Marines quickly and hopefully your chimeras do not get pasted on the way in. The Chimeras all have ML and HF and those can lay down lots of hits/wounds to force armor saves.
Also LRBTs work well....the St8 AP3 large template is great for avoiding those pesky armor saves.....(who here hasnt had like 20 wounds on a Tac squad of marines only to have them save all but 1......AAARRGHH!)

Yeah, Banewolfs are awesome at smacking down marines. I use them against chaos marines and they melt them good. If you want to be sneaky, use chimeras with cheap troops inside to stop the banewolfs being slapped down to early. Or, put a special weapons squad inside with demo charges to double slap them!

I've actually managed not to play against regular SM, but a friend does play CSM, and I'll tell you this much: my Medusa rides high at the top of his "kill it first" list. If you can get a clear shot, the thing can put a whole squad of soldiers on their collective backsides in a single shot as long as the gremlins haven't been messing about with your dice.

Stormtroopers are way too expensive for what they do. Banewolfs require your opponent to be an idiot in order for them to work. These are probably the two worst weapons of the pool that advertise being good against marines.

Stormtroopers tend to be the black sheep of tabletop guard. Even in 4th ed. they were bad, but they've always been good and reliable at one thing: deep-striking meltas. When I take a squad or 2 of melta stormies into a game I don't expect them to survive whatsoever, so anything beyond that is always a delight (if they do survive more than one round that is). The thing with them is that you have to be smart about what you decide to use them on. You use them on a transport full of troops and next turn they will undoubtedly be assaulted and wiped from existence, but if you use them for taking out Heavy Tanks, Skimmers, Walkers, and the like which do not possess transport capacity, well then their survivability increases. I prefer them because I'd rather sacrifice a small squad of stormtroopers than a full squad of melta-vets which are needed for capture points and stuff. Every doctrine for the stormie is useless except for the re-roll scatter dice one for this purpose exactly to get that sweet rear/side armor.
And lets face it, SM transports can be taken out easily with ACs and up, so reserve stormtroopers for what I said above and land raiders. For 105pts they should win their points back easily by blowing any of said things up. Other than that their str 3 weapons are too weak to be any effective anti-MEQ unit. If they were Str4 I'd probably deploy them all the time, but they aren't. Against Tau, Orks, and Sisters I will gladly take them as an anti-infantry unit, but for SMs they are pretty much only good for a suicidal anti-tank unit.

Well most people swear by sending vets in valks although I play more gunline than mech.
If you want to hold your ground and strike with counter charges i'd reccomend taking a few Battle tanks. They make short work of tact sqauds. If you take tanks though take at least 3 or every anti tank gun in they're army will be down on them.
Another idea to stop those that get too close is to pack a squad of vets with 3 plasma in a chimera on or near your forward line.
Some armoured sentinals kitted out cheap will tarpit tactical squads if you have to but i'd only reccomend this if you're playing large points around 2000. (Sentinels don't make they're points back easily and should only be used for containment)
Also, don't forget your blobs. A good sized unit of around 30 along with 3 commissars and sargeants with power weapons will mean when they get close to do a charge you can fight back with quite a bit of punch.
Make sure you pack the right weapons. Infantry squads with autocannons will take apart transport with ease making sure the marines take as long as possible to reach your lines. Also if they use land raiders, one or two hws with lascannons will be effective. At least one squad to each land raider. While hws arn't very survivalable you need to remember, once the heavy stuff is in pieces the lascannons don't have much of a target and you've a nice 48'' range to shoot from. Yes the land raider may be able to fire back but the units only around 120pts while the land raiders nearly double that. Always use the bring it down rule to make the most of these squads.
