As I progress through my painting, Ive noticed something that has been lacking, an attractive base. I have cut my terminators leg so it would look like it was resting on a rock. I am in the process of putting it together and realized I have big notches in the leg from the angle that was cut. I went to hobbylobby to see if they had some greenstuff. I found out it was GW by using my iphone(I know, two months painting and I had no idea what GS was...) They did have milliputt, however it was 12 dollars. Before spending an hour of my paycheck on something that may be a piece of crap, I figured I'd ask the forums what they thought about milliputt. I then thought, couuld I perhaps use milliputt to craft a skull that my terminator could be resting his foot on.
Appreciate the help forum,
Torch

Green stuff in awsome its very rubbery and can be incredably thin while milliput set like rock and thus is better for sculptimg rocks and also filling gaps my suggestion tho is milliput for big no detail and green stuff for small lots of detail also milliput is like thicker uncooked bread doe .But whatever you do dont and this is the single most important fact/rule that must be followed is that you should never ever, ever buy green stuff from games workshop its expensive and i have used it not as good as most other green stuff. So please dont by gw brand green stuff every thing else(except lord of the rings) is great little expensive but great.Thank you

I kinda realized that. Looking at the price per ounce GW is ridiculous!!! And they are good sized gaps, I think I'll go ahead and get the milliputt. I should be able to craft a small skull for the veteran sargent to put his foot on.

Search for Kneadatite (Aka greenstuff), its a little hard to find the exact brand here in the uk but ask around and you'll find some one selling it where you are (or a version of it). Normally if you buy in bulk the price will go down.
First search ...

$13.98 for 3.52 oz (100g) or 5x what you get from GW for $10

Milliput should be fine for what you want to do. Practically speaking, the main differences between GS/Kneadatite/brown stuff/milliput/etc. are the elasticity and final hardness. You can tweak the set-time by the mix ratio (more hardener = faster dry time and firmer putty while working), but the final hardness and edge-holding ability depends more on the product, itself, although varying the mix will affect it. Green Stuff/Kneadatite is a bit more elastic and better suited to organic shapes, while Milliput (the different grades denote fineness of grain/texture more than final hardness), being harder, holds a sharper edge and therefore works better for blades and mechanical parts.

That said, any of those products will work for gap filling, simple sculpting (like a basic skull), and applying surface texture (like the ribbed voiders on SM armor, if you cut at a joint). No need to pay out the nose for GW's overpriced relabel of a product available elsewhere. Buy more and cheaper, since it's an invaluable addition to your modeling supplies, once you get the hang of it.
