Should I take 3 Deffkoptaz w/ rokkitz and buzz saws or 3 buggies with just rokkitz???

If you are talking about one fast attack slot, here is the breakdown-

If you are going to take 3 buggies, fill that one slot with three buggies. All of them should have a rokkit launcha.

Otherwise, fill it with a rokkit buzzsaw deffkopta.

You would only need 1 buzz saw as the main purpose is to get the first turn charge.
After the first turn getting close enough to use the buzzsaw is a dangerous propersition.
It's safer to stay 20 or so inches away and plink 3 shots per turn to crack transports.

Deff Koptaz are great for alpha strike anti-armour if you get first turn scout move up and assault first turn or if you got second turn they are great distraction. The problem with Koptas is the leadership if you run more then one is start running into issues. Unless your running five, which I think is silly, every time one gets shot down you take a leadership check and when you get to half strength you can't even regroup. Personally I only run one kopta in a FA slot with TL rokkits and buzzsaw.

Now Buggies are great because they are cheap, fast, and killy. TL Rokkit luanchas put us in par with IG shooting and they don't suffer from our leadership problems. Also they can benefit from a KFF. But they are really fragile. They light armour, open-topped, and use the squadron rules so basically they are getting killed on a +3 on the damage table from a pen (well until your down to one)

I'm on the side of buggies. The biggest draw is they are cheap to field. Another draw is the models are really small, so its actually easy to get cover with them. Sure they can't assault, but orks have much better options than a S7 on the charge buzzsaw, so your really just want the accurate rokkits as cheap as you can get them.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Buggies are 35 points apiece, deffkoptas are 70 points apiece.....

There are only 3 fast attack choices, and nothing worthy of putting into the other ones, so do this:

FA1: 3x Buggies, twin-linked rokkits
FA2: 1x Deffkopta, twin-linked rokkit + buzzsaw
FA3: 1x Deffkopta, twin-linked rokkit + buzzsaw

Voila.

If you want more deffkoptas, add a second to each unit with a rokkit, but no buzzsaw.

I wish they'd update the buggy models. You look at the thing of beauty that is a killa kan or deff dread kit. And then you look at the overpriced, dated, misshapen lump that is a buggy. And sigh as you'll be buying more.

The buggy kit isn't to bad the wartrakk kit is even worse. I mean that you can actually modify it without destroying it. Also I need a decisive answer otherwise I might as well as just have asked dash of pepper and no one else.

I prefer the rokkit koptas, you get the same shots as from a buggy, but have the backup option of finishing the target in an assault. Sure it costs more, but it has twice the opportunities to kill that crucial transport that you need dead.

What's wrong with a small squad of say 3 deffkoptas with TL rokkits using nob bikers as a screen?

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Because you're using one of your best and most expensive units to protect a squad of guys who's best use (imo of course) is to scout or outflank.
Nothing wrong pre-say but a whole lot leaving me wonder what the plan for the rest of your army was

Neither, both units suck and aren't worth the points. Both die easy and both give up easy kill points. Both can't be counted on to pop heavy transports and Lootas do a far better job of popping the light ones.

I beg to differ. You obliviously have not played orks long enough.

Wise words indeed.

I suggest you have a look at the forum posting rules perhaps.

I like the Coptas - live fast and die young.
I usually take 1 or 2 as a unit (TL Rockets, 1 Buzzsaw).

I am learning to use Buggies. They are cheap, tough, and can block units - but I use Coptas when I can.

I can't count how many games I have snuck up 1 or 2 Coptas and blew up something juicy on the first or second turn. Very annoying for your opponent.

My buggies are more tactical and take a couple of turns to get those sweet rear-armor shots in.

Mr. harda$$ here . Dude you are dumb as plank. I used to think the same way, but deff koptaz are good for taking out Armored vehicles (AV 13 max though).

If you still think they are junk thats fine, but if you meet up with me or with someone who has deffkoptaz you be blown to bitz. Believe me I played this game way longer than you have, if you think that way.
