That's kind of how it reads, isn't it? If so, I've got some unopened stuff that's appreciated in value (i.e., GW charges more for it now than when I bought it)....

I'm guessing it's "$10, or buy $25 worth of GW stuff from the store." Nice option.

Heh. Please don't think I was being a Dick, I actually thought that's what you meant.

Haven't had my coffee yet either.

I may have to blow the dust off of my stuff and actually come out to join in. I have not played or even touched my models in ages.

A good tune up the week before the Smackdown.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Will there be limited space? Can one pre-register if so?

Yeah, seriously, Kelly. I need it.

@Monster Rain
I don't think they take pre-registration, it is pretty much first come first serve.

Sweet. I believe I'll make the drive down then. What's your comp like?

I see that it's an RTFM and all, do you use the GW checklist or is there another system?

Is there any more info on how this tournament will be run? I can't seem to find it on the site...even the store calendar doesn't even seem to have the event listed.

Yeah, they never update the calendar. It is usually local dudes that show up so we all know how it works.

Checklist painting and comp (typically) with battle points.

Everyone that shows up is cool and there are some really good players in the area.

You can call the store and ask for Bob for more information if you want. You can tell him you are driving down and ask to reserve a spot for you, I am sure they will oblige.

Yeah, they normally hold a spot for me when I ask since I'm over an hour away. Not sure if i'm gonna make it or not this time but i'm hoping so

I called the store and here is what they told me.

55% Battlescores. 20% painting. 25% sportsmanship (with a checklist that emphasizes how you play, not what you play).

No Comp.

First come first serve, but since we can have 20-24 people there shouldn't be a problem with space.

I can't say anything about missions because I don't have the mission book with me, but they'll be missions that are potentially in the Broadside Bash

I'll be at a wedding that day

Good luck to all attending. It's well run and the guys down that way are pretty awesome.

I really like the idea of buying GW product as an "alternate entry fee."

Yeah, a lot of places are doing that now. I think it is a much better game plan.

2000 points? I'm thinking about making the drive over, but this means I need to field some unpainted models. Does anyone know if that's kosher, or shall I bow out and wait for the next one?

I am pretty dang sure that is no biggie, although you won't be able to win.

You may want to call just to be sure, or PM Dave-Fay.

I think you should be fine, just be sure to call ahead and reserve a spot. A lot of people seem to be coming to this one.

I won't be able to win anyway, but thank you for being charitable!

Thanks for the info.

Quick question. I'm thinking about heading down to SD to play in this,i plan on using my terminator, but thier not on 40's. (Been along while since i've played/used them.

Will it be a huge issue? Should i rebase them? In the few pick up games i've played it never been a big deal.

Just wondering.

@Kaneka
No worries, bro! Hope to see you there.

@Alvar
No man, I wouldn't worry about it. I can't think of anyone who would actually make a fuss about that. Most of the people that play in the store are pretty laid back.

The only time I could see anyone making an issue of it is if you abused it on the deep strike to fit them into a space they would not otherwise fit in.

But realistically, don't sweat it at all man, come down and have a good time.

@Reecius
Cool, then i might stroll down. I get my ass handed to me but it's been about 4 years since i've been in a tourny, and got back to playing a few months ago. But i'll bring my purple marines (It's a SM army). I painted them that before "purple" became a bad color to plaint an army.

Why is purple a bad color?

Not really. But a few years after i painted them that color.iI got grief from the "kids" about gay pride marines. Thier royal purple. The chapter name is Emperors' Shield. They didn't get the whole royal purple=Emperor thing.
