Can prolonged exposure to sunlight fade or discolour GW paints on models?

By prolonged I mean 1-2 hours per day during the summer, the winter isnt as bad here in old Ireland.

My poor old Gargant, bunkers and craters get a good blast of it every evening due to where they sit on my shelves.

Will it affect them "long term"? Should I move them?

YES, it will make the paint fade - in the same way painted building exteriors fade.

Only it's not as harsh as the tint in windowglass (which may look clear but is actually green) will lessen it somewhat. It's down to the interactions between ultraviolet wavelengths and pigments.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That probably explains why the minis on display in my window haven't faded (with the exception of the static grass), and they've been there for over 18 months - my smurfs are still as blue as the day they were painted !

I second Greenskin Lynn's memory. There was a thread in here that linked to a guy who had tested paint longevity in sunlight for a year or so. Almost everything kept its colour nicely. For longer periods though they will gradually lose their colour.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
