I really wish they woudl have just put the abilities and all the stats on two pages instead of having me flip throught the damn thing wondering if I did this right or that right. Even a index would have being nice.

Any one else notice this problem?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Well, it is about 900 years old. Though even the new ones can have annoying "where the hell are those rules?!" moments.

If it really bothers you, either make a crib sheet of all the rules you use, or write your own index.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

The contents are on the first page - make a photocopy and fold it between the back reference pages if it's really that much of a problem. Later codexes do have a good bit more in their reference pages, but it's hardly 'suck'.

I find the biggest issue is not having page references in the army list.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

If GW did put page references in it, they'd be wrong anyway, or left as 'see page XX'.

It's honestly not that big a deal.

If you want confusion, try reading a rulebook that was translated from any other language INTO English.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

For real. It's not that hard to read.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Eh I've noticed it with my friends eldar. The special exarch weapons and rules are in with the unit listing but not in the army listing in the back.

And my ork codex has a nice ref page where 50% is "see pg XX"

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

The worst offense for gakky indexing is the entries for power fists thunder hammers et al, saying to refer to the core book rather than putting a two line summary in the respective codex (more an issue when you have new players or weapons like witchblades that are rarely used )

So what we've gathered here is that the Codex in fact doesn't suck and that it isn't a big problem.

Personally, I find that you either learn the order of the unit references or their abilities anyway. Although a slight inconvenience I don't care that the stats aren't on the same page as the army list.

If you play with it enough, you should find yourself half-memorizing it. I can almost build orks lists in my head now.

Yeah. Admittedly, I have found the Eldar codex more tricky to remember than others, but I know the Space Wolves and Chaos Space Marine codices.

Yeah, its 900 years old written during the 4th edition.
Nevertheless, Eldar is still playable but the designers did not have the 5th ed in mind.
Too bad.
