Not that this would come up much but if a model with a BS of 6+ has a plasma weapon and he rolls a 1, does he take the wound or does he get to roll again and has to roll another 1 to suffer the effects of Gets Hot?

I think everyone has the same chance of being fried by the gun (an IG and a SM have the same chance despite having different BS). Because of this I'd say you take a one on the first roll as a wound, even though you get to reroll it. A one on the second roll has no effect.

Nope, totally wrong. The first roll is completely ignored. Only the 2nd one applies.

It is essentially the same situation as it being master crafted (with a to hit modier of course). You need a 1 on the second roll for a Gets Hot! result.

First, depends on the TYPE of plasma weapon. If its a pistol or a gun then your roll is whatever it comes up. If its a one you get to re-roll it, per BS6 rules. Iif the second roll is a 1 your hosed, but you then still need that '6' to hit.
If your firing a Plasma Cannon (is their even a way to get BS6 on that weapon???) then your intial roll is just a 'Gets Hot!" check. If you roll a 1 you take your save and your done. Any other result (2-6) and the weapon fires. Your BS6 comes into play for subtracting distance off your scatter dice roll.

The only instance of a BS 6 Gets Hot! Blast weapon is Bjorn the Fell-Handed with a Plasma Cannon, who doesn't actually suffer Gets Hot! because he is a Vehicle!

Its the same as twin-linked plasma guns... reroll, take the second roll. If you roll 2 1's... well, your just damn unlucky!

No, it means you know that the red part of the overheat gauge is the bad part and you should take your finger off the trigger.

Like a BS5 space marine hero knows better than some rookie BS3 gaurdsman? Hence bs.

The "Gets Hot" rule seems quite clear, any re-rolls apply with only the second viable to cause wounds.
Weither its weird that a soldier with hundreds of years of expirience has the same chance of getting fried as a week old mekboy has no effect on the rules

The instability of plasma weaponry has nothing to do with the shooter's skill.
That's just plasma. It's got a one in six chance of blowing up, regardless of whether you're a veteran or a new recruit.

Cep't the OP is complaining its wrong that twin linked, master crafted and BS 6+ turns that to a 1/12 chance.

1/36
(well, more depending on your BS, however a BS5 would have no reason to reroll apart from a "1")
A master crafteD weapon is supposed to be better than normal. For plasma that could represent additional / better cooling (reducing the chances of frying yourself), stronger containment etc.

^ What he said.
Twin-linked plasma weapons only occur on vehicles. Master-crafted plasma weapons are less likely to overheat since they're made of sterner stuff.
...are there any BS 6 infantry in the entire game with plasma pistols? I didn't think there were, but I could be wrong. In any case, this would simulate the veteran shooter having learned a trick or two over the years to avoiding getting burnt by the plasma.

Cypher was possibly BS6 and certainly had a plasma pistol or two...

Someone who is skilled enough to get a rating of BS6 would have had plenty of time to get a more reliable Plasma weapon. Cypher would have ditched an inferior weapon.
