I'm interested in hearing what rumors other people have heard about the Tomb Kings or what they think the next codex will contain.

This is all that I have heard
1. It's going to be the next WHFB codex released now that Beastmen are done
2. There is going to be a plastic Bone Giants who will have various game options
3. There are going to be a number of differant ways of taking priests including upgrading a tomb scorpion
4. Skeleton warriors and tomb guard are going to be re-done with skeletons being cheaper
5. There will be a sphinx unit
6. Kings and princes will have a deadlier curse as well as more mount options including a construct like creature and a roc (giant carrion bird)
7. Ushabti will have differant weapon options and a hero class character type
8. Priests will be able to be entered in a construct as a mount type thing.
9. Skull Catapults will have even more ammo types

Thats all I've been able to find. Some of it sounds plausible to me, and since the trend is remaking 4 units I'm pretty sure skeletons and Tomb Guard will be 2 of those and I think the others that could be getting new models are Bone Giants, Ushabti and the cataplut.

What do you guys think?

We know - just having a spot of fun with you.

Tomb Kings are certainly on the rumor radar for 'soon', whatever 'soon' end up meaning in this case.

O&G seem to have jumped them in the queue recently, though...

That would make me mad if O&G got another update before Tomb Kings. I get that the more popular armies get more regular updates than those that aren't used as much (i.e Space Marines and Tyranids). But if they would update the older one more then once a decade then more people would probably play them. Sorry that's my rant about GW as I've not been to happy with them lately

Any more rumors? or comments on the ones I mentioned?

Feth, now I want thai. As for the rumors, I've seen Tomb Kings and O&G talked about. Personally, I'm hoping for Ogres, but it's a faint hope at the moment.

For some reason I suspect ogres more to be more likely, but it's nothing more than an un-informed hunch based on my observations of GW so it doesn't hold any weight. I'd rather TK come out first, as while I don't play either army, I find TK very interesting.

The Sphinx is Warmaster was killer and will be a welcome unit/creature. It's been interesting playing TK in the new addition so far.

If using the Skaven/Beastmen and new rule book as an example I would expect cheaper units across the board.

Hopefully a plastic warmachine and Casket?

In all seriousness, I think Tomb Kings should be getting a decent shot in the arm this time round. I havent played fantasy in years, but my gf is getting me back into it. They were a bit underpowered when I stopped playing, can't imagine that has changed much; but I dunno how their synergy with the new rules is going. I think Khalida based armies got a nice boost with the new shooting rules, but hard to tell how much.

All that being said, a lot of what OP was talking about sounded familiar rumor-wise. Nice to see the roc got out. Frankly I am hoping for more solid, capable rules rather than continued codex creep but I dont hold a hell of a lot of hope for that. I'm looking for more flanking units myself, but when you have as many light chariots in oyur inventory as I do, you would wouldnt you?

A plastic Casket would be cool even though I think the metal one is actually pretty nice looking. I also hope they make some new liche models as the current ones are kinda crap in my opinion. I think most of the Tomb Kings range looks great already except for the liches, skeletons and catapult.

When I first started WHFB it was a toss up between Lizardmen and Tomb Kings for my first army and Lizardmen won but I've always had an interest in the Tomb Kings.

I haven't read the new rules yet but I've heard that TKs have an advantage now as far as magic goes since everything they do is automatically caste as bound spells and all that but I also have heard that this loses its advantage because of how dated the codex and spells are.

Oh and by the way, I had Thai food

All those website telling you about a Warhammer Fantasy CODEX should not be trusted.
O&G being next almost confirmed. Khemri in October got shot down.
There are rumours floating around, but release is still 8-15 months away. But the TK fluff text in the rulebook may contain hints (big statues, flying ships). And Sphinx being standard terrain now, a model sounds plausible.

Good news from Harry today:
It is my understanding that final play testing of the Tomb Kings army book is done.

While "Harry" does seem reliable for some rumors, I maintain that he could say that GW was about to release Codex: Flying Pigs and everyone would believe it.

Wouldn't that be awesome though? I'd belive it just because I can.

And way, I might be tempted to collect TK if they got large plastic mounts.

Dammmnnn... TK were on my posible-new-army-if-a-new-codex-comes-out list. And im starting HE as well! Grrrr! I think i can wait for a while after it comes out though, when/if it does. Those new updates sound pretty awesome, plastic bone giant sounds really good, as do the sphinx unit. I think they'll be interesting in the new edition (big units of utashibi).

I wouldn't mind a new O&G release, though they have just had new models and i can see what people say about it being more popular etc.

I will watch this space...

I was also just thinking about this since many of the codices that have been updated have included characters that were mentioned in older versions this means that characters like Phar, Sehenesmet and Tutankhanut may very well be in the new codex when ever it comes out.

It would be a great opportunity to expand upon the army. Especially since they were an "expansion" when they came out. This would be basically the first redo of the army, and with their "sell models first" rule - I would hope that:

1) My models are still valid
2) We get more units.

I love running chariots and Kings. Settra and Khalida are nice characters - but since TK release I think the deficiencies are pretty glaring vs. other armies.

I do enjoy the 8th ed magic phase though.

Which one? That there are no Codices in Warhammer Fantasy, just army books?
Everything else can be found in the current 50 page Tomb Kings thread on Warseer: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254778 (be aware that the rumour of an October release was posted and shot down within this thread, Harry's comment is in post #972, page 49)

He once confirmed a Codex Chuck Norris, does that count?

Harry also said there would be four 40k Codexes in 2009 not counting game expansions.

BTW usually a release is around 6 months after the end of playtesting, so with O&G in January, this would put TK around March-May.

That is a large thread over there!

Anyway - Thai food is great! Much more reliably good if you're out on the town compared to 'Chinese' Food, which tends to be more hit and miss, mostly 'miss'.

And Tomb Kings... er, yeah!

Talk about chinese hitormiss, try and find some place that makes a decent Hot and Sour soup! feth sake people, it's not a Deep Blue checkmate solution!

Anyway, I think there is a decent depth of unit selection in the army codex, but I wont turn down expanding the menu.
