I was looking through the GW website the other day, and I came across some sweet models of Valten (from the Storm of Chaos IIRC),
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod1130377
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1130381
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1130382
and I was wondering, I really want to use Valten in my Empire Army, but it would seem he does not exist, rules-wise, and that his models are only for decoration. Is this true? The Exalted of Sigmar mini is way too awesome to leave in limbo. I don't see why Archaon should have rules and not Valten (ignoring his fluff death, since Elector Count Marius Leitdorf died in the fluff and still has rules)

There were rules for him...somewhere. I forget if it was in the Storm of Chaos book, or if they were just published in White Dwarf or something.
Dammit, now you've gone and made me get up off the couch ... the rules for the Exalted model were in the Storm book. Still not sure about Champion and Chosen, and damn sure not sorting through White Dwarfs to check. At least not at this time of night

I had a set of rules for him (5th ed. I think; the orks vs empire box set, but he was overpowered.)
When he died, he took an unmodified Ld test (Ld9). If he passed, he came back with one wound. Combine that with anything capable of healing, and he's pretty much invincible. He carried Ghal Maraz and had awesome stats.
The only tactic my HE opponent could think of was Vaul's unmaking against Ghal Maraz, and then ignore him (not because he was ineffective without the hammer, but because it wasn't worth the effort to kill him).
Still, balanced out some of the HE characters from that edition.

He had three sets of rules, to my understanding. He had a 2004 Chronicles Rule-Set (for the unarmored Hero-level), White Dwarf something (for him on the horse), and Storm of Chaos (for him on the Elvish Steed).
His special rules that I can recall were said leadership thing above (unless it was Killing Blow or Run Down), and that instead of conferring his leadership onto other units he instead passed any wounds he caused to their Combat Resolution if they fought within 12" as well (Meaning if, say, he got six wounds on Ogres, he just passed +6 Active Combat Resolution to all his allies w/i 12"). There was more, but they were typically equipment rules.
His "If I die, I get back up on Leadership" is broken now with the re-roll conferred by a BSB. Kinda a good thing he's gone. Of course, this only means I expect at least two versions of him (Hero and Lord) when the next Empire book comes out.

Dang, I won't take him if he's that over-powered, I don't like the idea of playing and if my general is essentially immortal, he counts as uber- . But that's such a waste of an awesome model. Thanks for the information anyways though.
As another question, I have the Empire Army book, but I was wondering what the public idea of Karl Franz's cheesy-ness was. He was to be my second choice as a general when I grow my army, (Kurt Helborg comes third as I am fielding Reiksguard)

I've never thought KF was cheesy. He's an excellent general. As a fighter, he's good, but he's not worth 350pts + 225 for the griffon.
I always felt it was easy to waste the points by throwing him into a fight rather than using him as a focal point for your army.
Luthor Huss, however, with the new bound spells rules, has become a bit more powerful.

Wow...575 points for one guy? That's no way near worth it (or for that matter possible) unless i have 2250 points or more, assuming I use no other Lords in that army. Even then...lots of victory points for one guy and his griffon. Luthor Huss or Kurt Helborg looks pretty good right now, Kurt could work when i increase the size of my army, without sinking a full 25% of my army points into him.

KF comes into his own in large scale games. You can increase the Ld of most of your army to 10 by careful placement, and use him to support others in CC. Ld 10 for an army with basic Ld of 7 is a massive boost.
But that's what he's there for. Don't be tempted by the runefang and beastie and throw him into a fight unless you have to.
