The only thing you need to know is that yellow is the cheapest paint and Dorn was last over to the Quartermasters store during the great crusade hence the rubbish colour scheme. Everything else is just fluff.

I can just imagine the conversation between Dorn and the Emperor... "Oh Rogal that colour scheme you selected, thats soooooo, last season Dear!"

Other than lexicanum you can find it in novels,codices,white dwarf articles and index astartes.
