Find a way to fit in Dante and lose Tycho. Dante just works better. Give the packs back to your assault squad because they will be sitting ducks without them. If Death company has jump packs, drop them in a pod instead. also get rid of the sanguinor. He is awsome, but not even close to efficient for the points you spend. Id really rehaul the whole list by maxing out troops with assault squads and meltas

You need to remember if they all drop in they have to stand around for a turn. Your opponent is going to get at least one round of shooting in before you can start to assault and hit where you need to be.

You also have to factor in that your troops may not all enter at the same time leading to your army arriving piecemeal. Giving your opponent all of the momentum.

Personally I haven't been able to get deep strike to work.

Any opponent who knows what they are doing are going to blast the hell out of your army as it arrives stopping you from getting into close combat.

My question is can the Jump infantry still take jump packs in the drop pods ?

Ya I think I might drop The Sangiour for Dante or tyco.
But I do like the idea of Drop pod army any more ideas to make a good solid list?

Thanks btw

No, they can only chose a Dedicated Transport if you chose to remove their Jump Packs.

If your going to run droppods then take a basic character don't need all the special rules. Also don't for get that assault squads have the descent of angels special rule even droppods, unless some one can show me where it says otherwise. so take a couple more squads and get vanguard vets they are nice and can hit damn near where ever you want them to. Furioso librarian aren't badin dropods especially whne you can throw up shield for some protection. To many weapons in the death co squad power weapon power fist and thats all you need.

IMO there are only 4 droppodding armies that would work salamanders with vulkan and master of the forge, Crimson fist with 3 stern guard squads and pedro, Blood Angels with either 8 dreads or loaded up on assault squads with vanguard coming off of the locator beacons on the pods

Sure, the Descent of Angels special rule only applies to units with Jump Packs. Assault Marines are listed with that rule because the come equipped with Jump Packs. If you remove them to give them a Drop Pod, they lose Descent of Angels.

Also, I am pretty sure Descent of Angels doesn't even effect Drop Pods/Land Raiders.

Only models equiped with Jump Packs get Descent of Angels.

Actualy it doesn't say that any where. the Descent of angels rule reads that " A blood angels unit with this special rule can reroll reserve rolls if arriving by deepstrike. Also due to the precision of their descent they scatter 1d6 rather than 2d6. Models without this rule deepstrike normaly."
Nowhere does it say that you have to be equipped with a jump pack. Only that if you take a jump pack you also gain this rule.

However before I finished this I checked the FAQ and it doesen't allow it.

SO just take like chaplains ? I am a bit of noob on Marines(GK don't count) Cause I want to do blood angel drop.
The reason I took different weapons in the squad is so they can butcher and as well wound allocation.
So what like 2 chaplains and larmertes and the Priest ?

Hi all i posted this army list before and thought it suited this listing

HQ: Dante

Elite: furioso dread

Troops:
8 man death company
Death company dread with blood talons (both mounted in a stormraven)
10 man assault squad with 2 meltas (in stormraven with furioso) (free drop pod with locator beacon dropped on turn 1 for strategic deep striking of stormravens)
corbulo with 5 man assault with melta and infernus pistol (in drop pod)
5 man assault with melta and infernus pistol (in drop pod)
5 man assault squad with melta (jump packs on and paired with Dante for precision deep striking)

Heavy:
stormraven with twin linked multi melta and sponsons
storm raven with twin linked multi melta

Total = 1750

The idea is that on turn one you drop pod assault the empty pod strategicaly and one 5 man squad with 2 meltas close to whatever armour you want to neutralize and use it for cover (hopefully)
then deepstrike the rest using locator beacon if appropriate. both storm raven have plenty of anti infantry on the assault to take down almost any unit or armour with the meltas in the squad or dreadnought. stormravens when they come in can fire all there hell strike rockets if needed also. then the final drop pod and stormravens and dante squad can always take objectives.
what do you all think?
