I've started painting a Celebrant army as a result of wanting to try out my airbrush skills. Just the base colour done for now. I've been hunting for others painting Celebrants but come up with nothing. So if others have post here would love to see your work.

This really belongs in the Painting & Modeling forum.

That said, they look pretty good so far. The blending is very smooth on most of the models.

The only exceptions, and this may just be the lighting, are the models with the greaves, the blending looks a little harsher there, and the model on the far right, though less so.

This is one of those very rare cases where I think that an ink or a wash could do wonders for you. Your airbrushing skills seem to be impeccable, and a wash applied to the base of the armor would make them look amazing. I can't recommend one color of wash in particular, as you have a few options. Be careful to select one that won't ruin the great color of yellow that your airbrushing has achieved.

I would personally be very picky about which details I decided to paint over on the marines, as too many contrasting details have the potential of ruining the focus that should be on the gradient color.

Looking very nice, I've thought alot about getting some airbrush action on my tanks. I wonder, are you using GW paints? How much experience have you had with an airbrush?

Glad you ask, I wanted to paint a lesser known chapter.

My experience with and air brush on models is what you see above. I've used airbrushes alot as a chemist but not in my hobby.
However after reading through alot of forums I decided to use the following method to do these:

Primed with GW Chaos Black.
Airbrushed with Iyanden Darksun Foundation paint thinned with distilled water. (Getting the right viscosity of paint was tricky at first.)
Sunburst yellow, Blazing Orange and Blood Red GW paints thinned with distilled water.

Iwata HP:CS Airbrush + Iwata smart Jet pro compressor

hopefully I get a chance to get back to them tonight.

P.S. @ Captain Klaw, was checking out your pics, and thanks you've helped me decide on the magnet to use on the rhino's side doors.

No worries mate, I really should post a link to that article in my sig.

Love the idea of taking on a lesser known chapter, especially those with inventive colour schemes, and the blank wiki pages means you've got a lot of room to move with the organization etc of this chapter.

Look forward to seeing more! (perhaps stage by stage but don't worry if you've finished!)

Ok, now that I know what they are, they look pretty good.

Based on the pictures you provided of the chapters color scheme, I would humbly suggest a darker red towards the top. You may already have done this and I just can't see it due to the lighting of the picture you took, but I thought I would mention that.

I am looking forward to seeing them with the details painted up as well, like the shoulder pad chapter symbol of the winged five-pointed star.

Not sure what to suggest to fill in the tiny cracks of the armor plating, or the gaps between fingers, the studs on the shoulder pads, or any of the other finer details that naturally stand out when dry brushing. I don’t think a wash or an ink job would really work, although I have not used an air brush before, but it seems to me that using a wash/ink would take away from the blending of the colors.

Also, and again humbly, I suggest painting the bolters like regular bolters instead of part of the fade. Help them pop out and make them seem more like a good ol'faithful bolter of the empire. Of course, don’t forget to paint the hole at the end of the barrel

Those candy look like a tasty treat and an easy way to make 'corvus' shoulder pads, double win.

As to the marines, I was just going through Lexi and saw these guys. I glad that someone has taken on the mantle of making them a reality. It really is a unique scheme.

Any ideas as to how you will run the army? Assault or shooty or indeed which Codex you may use?

Yes I was considering a darker red towards the top I think it would contrast well with the Yellow. Something I'll try. The bolters got sprayed as they were in the way. I hope to get a chance to do alot more on these tonight so should have some updates shortly. Yes the shadowing/highlighting is taking a bit of thought but I'll try a few things tonight.

There's a drop pod coming too.

The celebrants are the coolest of all chapters, and if I had the skills, I would be painting them all the time. Kudos on choosing a unique and difficult chapter to complete!

I had an idea for the chapter symbol that you can use.

Since it is just a five pointed star with wings: all you need to do is buy a sheet of star shapped stickers and spray paint the sheet black.

They come in all different sizes so you can use them on the shoulderpads and on the vehicles, and after they are stuck on then it is just a matter of painting on a winged shape. Which I can imagine is alot easier to do than trying to line up the points of the star, and get all the lines clean, and make sure they are the same size.

Just a quick update. . . 5 marines finished and the Pod is base coated with the blend. I've also acquired and assembled two Ven. dreadnoughts.
I'll post some pictures over the weekend as there is some nice progress.

I like your idea Psyker I'll look into this! cheers.

Wow, these are awesome as well! I love lesser known chapters, i'm considering (amongst other things) starting a brazen minotaur army. your airbrush work is great and I will def be following your progress! and i just love mould lines! it means you enjoy getting them on the table quickly and these look better than some i've spent ages on and tried to remove all the lines! hey we try and do the right thing but if we're not entering golden demon.... who cares!
