Very nice...if only there was coastguard IG to rescue!

Maybe a few serial numbers on the front though?

Thanks for the input.

I paint all my vehicles in different patterns to keep it fresh and to allow myself to try out different techniques while still increasing my army's net worth.

I'm not really big on the serial number thing. Mostly because I can't do freehand worth anything and I don't like the numerals on the transfers. Too common.

Where would you like them? I just can't see it... Just beneath the canopy, or even further towards the front?

Nicely done!

As for the 'where' on numbers/markings - the 'standard' issue paintjob has them in a 'good' place, but really, anywhere 'logical' would be OK too...

Thanks.

Standard issue? As in US coast guard standard issue? Sorry. I really have no idea what that would translate too in this instance. I'm not that familiar with them. :-)

I know governmental vehicles around here have numbers on the roof to allow for aerial identification, but that would hardly be appropriate. I mean, another flier would have the ID from a transponder or something like that.

But apart from the numbers, anything I should think about in the future or that I could have done better/different to achieve a better result?

Overall I'm very pleased with how this turned out but there's always room for improvement.

Great job! 2 questions though.

1) how did you do those weathering effects?

2)What did you use for the TL Lascannons?

I love medics in Imperial Guard. Vendettas, not so much.

However the paint job and conversion is very nice (particularly the cockpit displays)

Great job!

Thanks for looking, so glad you asked! :-)

1: The hull is based in Dheneb Stone. Then all the rivets are drenched in Badab Black or Devlan Mud. Then comes a generous brush of Fortress Grey to lay down the base color.

The actual weathering comes from a two layer streaking, first with Adaptus Battlegrey and then a slightly more cautious streaking of Chaos Black. The trick is to use more paint then usual for brushing and to only brush in the 'correct' angle. Perpendicular to the wings and fuselage and slightly angled for the rear.

Focus on edges, rivets and rises in the model to produce the effect of dirty water being pressed out of rivets and around the rises before being pushed back and dissipated by the airflow.

At least that's the effect I was going for. :-)

The whole model is basically reversed highlighted (lowlighted?) with all edges brushed with Adeptus Battlegrey followed by Chaos Black from a base coat of Fortress Grey.

Just be careful with the Chaos Black. It has a tendency to cover everything just a little bit too good.

2: For the wings I bought the Terminus Ultra Landraider kit to get an ample supply of lascannons and then I simply glued 'opposing' LC:s together. If you look at the TU sprue you'll understand what I mean. There are two sets of matching LC:s but to get a nice balance I broke the sets and glued them together.

For the front I cut a piece of plasticard into the same shape as the fitting and then glued a cut up normal LC from the HW sprue onto it. I also cut up a heavy stubber mount from a tank kit and added it so that the LC wouldn't look so lonely in its fitting.

Having the front TL lascannon on opposite sides of the canopy allows me to still use the model as a Valkyrie with an LC upgrade for the right fitting and a standard targeting array in the left one.

You could paint its callsign id on the tailbooms or side fuselage (between doors and rear).

For example, in Australia, it would be VH-AAA to VH-ZZZ for it. In Sweden, you apparently use SE-AAA to SE-ZZZ.

I use VK2 PEH as the callsign on one of mine as that is my brother-in-law's radio callsign. The only other marking it has is "NAVY 01" on the vertical stabilisers.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
