Anybody go out and see this cinematic gem yet? Just saw it tonight - fantastic movie, a lot of humor and self-reference, and some way over the top yet totally awesome fight scenes. My only gripe was that they really rushed together the 4th, 5th and 6th Evil Exes. The first three got plenty of backstory and some fairly lengthy fight scenes, but it seemed like the fourth one was over quick, and basically happened immediately after the third. I admit that they really didn't have much time to spare, since they crammed 6 books into a single movie, but it would've been nice to see a bit more development between the three fights.

All in all, an excellent movie. The movie was almost spot on with the source material - a few things were removed (including some plot lines from the various graphic novels, though Nega Scott did make an appearance) and some things were moved around a bit, but it was a very faithful adaptation. There were even a good number of humorous lines that made it from the novels into the movie. My personal favorite was:

"Have you said the L-word yet?"
"Lesbian?"
"The other L-word."
"...Lesbians?"

Anyone else see this one yet? Or have read the graphic novels?

I didn't like the beginning. It gets started rather slow, and the initial 8-bit music kind of annoyed me (and I listen to 8-bit music albums), but once it got going it was quite awesome.

Big fan of Spaced (Director's British TV series) so looking forward to seeing this next week. Staggered that it only made $10 million in the States in its first week. What's going on there?

Oh yes, The Expendables (sigh!)

Heard the Expendables was damn good (going to see it tonight with some buddies) so it stands to reason that Scott Pilgrim is kind of playing second fiddle. You know us Americans and our action movies

I hate Michael Cera, and this sounds like a really awful premise for a movie (Or a comic, for that matter). The graphic novel stylization looks decent, but I don't think that's enough for me to actually enjoy this movie.

This looks like typical hispter trash that's trying too hard with overt vidya gaem references. Also Michael Cera...

There are actual albums of 8-bit music? That thought scares me more than a little.

I thought the movie was crap, but that is mostly due to personal preferences.

Yes indeed, Micheal Cera is a irritating skinny little gak, and i really hate his whiney voice and his ...

well... everything pretty much.

Given that those are the roles he plays wouldn't that just make him incredibly appropriate for them?

Probably; doesn't change the fact that he's akward and unlikable.

I really liked this movie. In fact, I've seen it twice. I never even read the comic books.

The problem for Scott Pilgrim is that both "The Expendables" and "Eat Pray Love" also came out August 13th. Had Scott Pilgrim come out maybe a week later, it would've made much more.

I just went and saw this with some friends and it was fething brilliant. Loved it, will buy the DVD. I think this is my favorite Michael Cera movie yet, even better than Zombieland.

Vegan Police was awesome. So awesome.

But my absolute favorite bit was:
"I'm Matthew Pattel. Didn't you get my email?"
"Yeah, but I just kinda skimmed it.
"You will pay for your insolence!"

I'm definitely picking up the comic now.

(Though, in truth, I have no idea what Scott sees in Ramona and thought she was dreadfully boring.)

Anyways, I saw this movie last night and loved it. I'm not a fan of Michael Cera, but I feel he did well enough in his role. Then again, Wallace was easily the best character in the movie and stole a lot of focus from Cera whenever they were in the same scene together.

Michael Cera wasn't in Zombieland, it was a guy who kinda looks like him.

Well, Ramona was hot. To clarify; Mary Elizabeth Winstead is hot. Too bad she's getting married.

Seriously. I developed a SUPER crush on her after I saw Scott Pilgrim. I feel more betrayed than the Jedi after Order 66.

The other funny part is where Wallace is 'asleep' and then it turns out that he texted Scott's sister that Scott is also dating Ramona.

"How is that even possible? He's unconscious!"

I don't think I'm going to see it. I'm not a fan of the comic-book stylisation that I've seen so far and I'm really not into 'geeky guy after the girl' stories.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Sorry for the mild threadomancy, but this gets a thumbs up from me.

The fights with the evil exes got a bit dull after a while, but overall it was very amusing, which is as good a reason for seeing a film as any.

I liked the sour red haired drummer, Kim. She needed more lines though...

I loved it, Great movie with a completely comic feel. The battles did get a bit repetitive but i didn't care. Ive seen it a few times now and its definitely in my top 15.
