hey,

anyone have any tips on warhammer 40k basing, what looks cool, examples, etc.

im interested in snow bases right now, and tech of how to do nice snow bases. ive done some with the snow powder GW makes and its fun, anyone know a good contrast color for the dirt around it?

If you want snow bases then mix up some baking soda, Elmer's glue and add a touch of water effects resin and apply for taste. I'm not sure the mixture, but I'd say tinker with it a bit one some spare bases or whatever you've got lying around until you've got the consistency you want.

Gale Force 9 has a really good set of different sized flocking granules (small/med/large). I mix them, glue the mix to the base (I just paint the base in white glue, push it into the mix for 30 sec, then pull it out & gently tap off the excess), when dry, wash with sepia. It makes a very convincing and interesting "ground" and is dirt simple to do. Then you could come in over the top with your snow effects & get some great contrast that should really show your figures off to good effect.
