Round 4 + final analysis not written yet.

Friday was a blast met Stelek, Dashofpepper among other people and had a game with my old college friend Darin Brown's Orks. He paints really awesome.

Saturday starts out not so good. I wake up feeling terrible headache and all go for buffet breakfast at the hotel but its sort of overpriced and they don't have nice stuff but I feel terrible so don't care. I get registered and bring my stuff over to the convention hall.

This is what I played.

Picture of his army

Mission is Dawn of War, victory points primary.

I get first turn and set up a congo line of my 2 infantry squads across the middle to force him to deploy back.

He deploys 2 squads of terminators and Njal. Reserving the drop pod dreads.

My turn 1
I just roll on with everything running up the las plas squads onto the objectives on my side and run the infantry squads forward to use them as speed bumps and maybe get some shots off. don't really get any spots to search light anything.

His turn 1
he comes on and tries to hunker down out of los. Long fangs coming on on the left with Logan to pop off some shots but can't see and on the right to hid behind the ruins.

My Turn 2
I move up the infantry squads. I fire into his terminator squad with Njal with everything that can see Njal's head including the executioner until I kill enough to force a leadership test and then hit them with the psyker battle squad so they have -8 leadership and they run away. Infantry squad on the left shoots into the long fangs with Logan and infantry squad on the right fires into terminators on the right. Think I might have killed one long fang here.

His Turn 2
One of his dreads arrives and sactters backwards. His dread hits a vendetta but fails to penetrate with its multimelta. Cyclones fire at Executioner. Logan + fangs mangle the infantry squad left and all thats left is a sarge by himself and long fangs eat my infantry squad on the right before running back into cover.

My Turn 3
I turn the left Valkyrie to fire on his dreadnought and move on up with meltas and the pbs then focus everything else that can on the remaining terminator squad. I stun his dreadnought with the vendetta and then fire the vet squad on the left at Logan and the remaining long fang there. On the right side I fire at the terminator squad klling enough for a test and pbs sends them off the board.

His turn 3
Second dread comes in. dread misses a vendetta. long fangs fire at a chimera and stun it.

My Turn 4
move some meltas to the left take out his dread and turn vendettas to shoot at the dreads. Between Vendettas, Meltas and the las/plas veterans I manage to kill both dreads and drop pods. On the right the executioner and a vendetta cleans up the last long fang squad.

Have 2 turns left to make a grab for the objectives and corners so I do that and manage to get all 4 corners and 3 objectives

Win for me with primary victory points, secondary and tertiary.

I use the remaining time in round 1 to run around taking pictures of all the games and checking on my friends games.

MVP: Psyker Battle Squad
PBS rocked by reducing leadership of the terminators so they ran off the board.
Executioner was the runner up doing serious damage to bunched up terminators and long fangs so the PBS could send them running.

Oops it did nothing: everything was useful this game.

Game Analysis:
Everything went well maybe could have loaded up a squad in a Vendetta to nab that last objective but no big deal.

What? A leafblower blew away a static marine list!?

Seriously, though, nice job. Players who field terminator gunline lists deserve unsavory fates.

cool looking armies and cool display boards. i've eventually got to build me one of those but it's not a high priority as i don't play too many tournies.

I think you you bring a Psyker battle squad to a game you should allow your opponent to field 250 more points. They are just that good.

Unless of course you play Daemons, hur hur.

...or transport armies, or deepstrike armies, or fearless armies, or have their own psykers. There are a lot of ways to counter PBSs. it just so happened that the opponent in this game didn't, and was thus very hurt by them.

PBS are perfect for dealing with big expensive death star type units, and that Wolf List is essentially just two (3 if you count the Logan + LF unit) very slow deathstars. It can put out a lot of missile shots but can't take much damage back despite being in TA as there are basically no ablative wounds .

I thought if you targeted a SM librarian (like that special character) with a psychic power he got a psychic hood roll? And he's LD10 while a PBS is LD8 - am I getting this wrong, does the psychic hood have to be within 24" of the casting psyker, not the target area?

Anyway, pretty total victory, congratulations. Seems like your opponent was a bit of a muppet to walk down the board against all that firepower. Should have deep struck his terminators maybe!

PBS is actually good against the fatecrusher demon list because fateweaver has to take a leadership test when he takes a wound so hitting him with -8 leadership makes him likely run away after 1 wound.

Pbs is leadership 9 and has a range of 36. Librarians are leadership 10 but have a hood range of 24 so you can nail them with the pbs from outside of their hood range.
