I met Andrew Gonyo at Conflict
GT two years ago and we been talking about
IG strategy since then although never actually played a game till now. We were thinking we would play that game on day 2 of the open if neither of us made top 8 but here we are playing now. Andrew also posts on dakkadakka as targetawg

He has a really nice Marbo conversion
I like how he paints his troops as well.
I read the wrong page for mission so the whole time I'm thinking its Victory Points with Table Corners secondary when its actually Table Corners with Objectives secondary.
Our Emperor's Tarot's cancel so we have a straight roll off and Andrew wins and elects to go first.
Andrew sets up in the right corner with 2 Leman Russ and a las
plas chimera on the hill and then some chimeras on the left ready to advance into the left corner with some chimeras and the executioner up front ready to advance into my right corner.
Amdrew's Turn 1
He moves the Chimeras on the left to the left corner and the Chimeras up front and the Executioner forward. One of his Leman Russes immobilizes itself on top of the rocks.
My Turn
Nothing since I reserved everything.
Andrew's Turn 2
He rolls a 1 for marbo's reserve bummer. He moves the left Chimeras into the corner more and the Chimeras up front and the Executioner forward, turbo boasts both Vendettas into the left corner.
My Turn 2
Due to some low rolls and the officer of the fleet I only get 1 Las
plas Veteran squad in a Chimera and 1 Vendetta with an Infantry Squad inside. I bring the Chimera on behind the trees on the left and the Vendetta comes on on the left side to target his Vendetta. I smoke with the Chimera as there is nothing to fire at and my Vendetta kills his Vendetta and his guys fall out.
Andrew made some really nice craters better then my peices of cardboard. Have to make some for next time.
His Turn 3
He rolls a 1 for marbo again. His Remaining Vendetta blows up my Vendetta and kills some of my guys leaving these guys.
He fires a las cannon at my chimera that smoked but I make my cover save.
My turn 3
The inquisitor vendetta comes on the board on the upper left corner outside of the picture. Manticore comes on behind the las
plas veteran chimera on the left with the Executioner and Psyker Battle Squad Chimera comming on beside the Manticore on the left. On the right the Company Command Squad Chimera and the las
plas veteran squad chimera arrive in the very corner. The manticore gets a single missle and fires at the vendetta but misses. The inquisitor vendetta fires on the enemy vendetta and destroys it so the infantry squad piles out in the rubble. las
plas vets fire a las cannon at the chimera beside the wrecked Vendetta and miss. Executioner fires at the infantry in the crater of their destroyed Vendetta and scatters off with all but 1 and gets 2 kill after cover saves. Psyker battle squad tries to target them but is out of range. Both the Chimeras on the right side smoke.
His Turn 4
Marbo comes on right behind my Manticore. Chimeras and the Executioner on the right move on up. Veterans right next to the Infantry squad by the crashed Vendetta fire their las cannon at my Inquisitor Vendetta destroying it so the inquistor and 2 mystics pile out out of
los of his infantry squads. Marbo tosses his demo charge and destroys the manticores missle turret. Multi lasers and plasma cannons fire into the chimeras on the right stunning the company command chimera the las/
plas chimera makes its cover save. Leman Russes scatter off the board.
My Turn 4
Second manticore arrives on the left side. vendeta with infantry squad outflanks on the left as well. On the right side the melta veteran chimera and the platoon command squad arrive. las cannon on the left fires at that same Chimera by the crashed valkyrie but it makes its cover save. left las
plas veteran chimera fires its multi laser at marbo and kills him. Vendetta on the left fires at the chimera by the crashed vendetta and immobilize it. Manticore fires at his
CCS chimera and explodes it it. las
plas chimera on the right pops out a las cannon fires on the platoon command chimera immobilizing it
His Turn 5
He moves on up on the right side again. His
CCS moving into the open to get long range melta shots at my Vets chimera and blow off the multi laser. Veterans by the crashed fire their las cannon at my vendetta shaking it. Russes totally miss with their battle cannons again. Las cannon out the top of the Chimera on the hill immobilies the Platoon command chimera. Melta chimera move on up and fires at my vet chimera immoblizing it. Multi lasers fire doing nothing.
My Turn 5
Vendetta turbos 18 to get a cover save since it can't shoot. las
plas vets on the right fire at the same chimera next to the crashed vendetta and miss. on the right the melta vet chimera fires at the chimera right near them and stuns it. Executioner shoots the
CCS out in the open and kills them other then the commander and a couple guys which I hit with the
pbs and they run.
His Turn 6
he pushes forward on the right moving up with Chimeras that can move his Russ as well. multi laser fire does nothing. A Russ scores a hit on the Platoon command but they make their cover save. Other Russ misses. Executioner scores 2 hits on the las/
plas chimera but fails to penetrate.
My Turn 6
I drive the Company command squad towards his execuioner and the get out so they can bring it down on the executioner. Vendetta moves 6 and fires on side armor of his immoblized chimera and gets 2 pens but he makes his cover saves. las
plas squad on the left misses the chimera.
CCS Bring it down on the executioner kills it. Melta vets blow up the chimera next to them and kill a bunch of guys and I hit them with the
pbs and they run.
He wins on objectives as I read the round 1 mission and was going for victory points. I did have more victory points by over 500 though.
MVP: Vendettas for killing his vendettas and
CCS for that last bring it down for 190 victory points.
Oops it did nothing: Platoon command didn't really do anything as their chimera was immobilized.
Game Analysis:
My big problem was reading the wrong page for the mission. Bad me for getting not enough sleep. If I had known it was objectives I would have moved the las
plas chimera on the left 12 inches to claim the left objective and then gotten out with the platoon command and veterans on the right and issued move move move orders to make a run for the right objective and moved the vendetta to contest his which would give me 1 maybe 2 objectives and contest his so he had 1 so maybe win it on objectives otherwise win on kill points. Should have been firing the executioner at his infantry squad on the objective and hit him with the
pbs to send them away too.
Other then that I played it well maximizing cover and avoiding taking too heavy losses was a good fun game.
