We dice off and he gets first turn. Dash deploys with a loota squad on each side with the battle wagons in the middle with a defkopta flanking each side.

After some agonizing thinking, I decide to deploy instead of reserving everything. I need to get some shots in on those Battle Wagons before they get to me. If I have Manticores in cover its likely they will be able to fire. I deploy with a las plas veteran squad in chimera on each objective with Manticore behind with cover with the Melta units and pbs towards the middle so I can react to which side he goes to. Vendettas with 2 Infantry Squads + Inquisitor are Outflanking in reserves.

Pregame
He scout moves both deffkoptas towards my left and right flanks.

Dash's Turn 1
He moves his battle wagons up heading towards the left side. Lootas wiff shooting at the left manticore. Same happens on the right. Rocket buggies blow up the Las plas vet chimera on the right.

Right before the assault phase


Kopta on the left gets an immobilized and stunned result on my las plas vet chimera.


Kopta on the right wiffs but I do a wound to the kopta and he makes his leadership so we stay.


end of his turn 1 shot



My Turn 1
Move the Executioner on up as bait hoping he takes it and gets out with his nobs or at least his boy squad so I get a shot at taking them out. CCS moves towards the Defkopta to shoot him
Executioner fires at lootas and misses with all 3 templates. Manticore on the left fires 1 shot at his KFF battle wagon and misses. Manticore on the right fires 1 shot at his nob battle wagon scatters off and blows up a Trukk. las plas vets and their chimera fires at the buggies managing to kill one. The vets wiff on the kopta and the kopta wiffs on the vets so they stay.




Dash's Turn 2
He moves on up. Ghazi gets out to take out the Leman Russ which was the right play. His Rockit buggies stun my manticore on the right. Lootas on the right fire at the vets chimera stunning and immobilizing. Left lootas fire at manticore in cover but do nothing.

Ghazi trashes my leman Russ and takes a wound when it explodes. and the valiant veteran guardsmen slay the defkopta

My Turn 2
I get 2 out of 3 vendettas. One 1 infantry squad inside and the inquisitor in the other. I try and reroll the infantry squad one to the other side without the grots on it but I roll another 1. Manticore fires on KFF wagon getting 1 shot again and I hit and pen but he makes the KFF save. Inquistor Vendetta fires into the nob battle wagon but misses twice getting 1 hit which glances and blows off a weapon. Infantry squad vendetta shoots at the KFF wagon hits twice and I get 2 pens, 1 is saved and I get a 1 on the other. Infantry squad rapid fires into lootas killing a few. CCS fires at the battle wagon from inside at long range and misses twice and doesn't pen with the other shot should have moved 12 and got out here. Multi lasers finish off the buggies. Las plas vets on right shoot Ghaz and do another wound. Inquisitor's warriors shoot pistols and miss.



His turn 3
He Waughs. He tank shocks my infantry squad and they fail their leadership and run losing a few to death rollas. Burnas then get out. Vendetta managed to dodge the ram. The nob battle wagon rams my CCS Chimera and explodes it nobs pile out. Boy Wagon goes towards the vets on foot to avenge that defkopta and let the boys out.

burnas multi assault the infantry squad and vendetta only shaking the vendetta and wiping the infantry squad. Ghaz kills the las plas vet chimera. boys assault the veteran squad and kill them.


My turn 3
With very little time left on the clock I go to take my last turn. Move everything really quick trying to contest or get on objectives I start shooting from the left side shooting ghazi and taking him down to one wound. I trying to put melta and the left manticores shots into the nobs hoping to make them run but they are fearless from the waagh. I do get them below half though. Since everything of his is fearless I shoot the last loota instead of the grots with my infantry squad. We get a dice down before I can finish shooting so I don't get to shoot anything on the right and can't shoot the Manticore on the right with its flamer into the boy squad.

We later realize after I moved everything without checking for immobilized so made illegal moves with an immobile vehicles as I made a mistake moved everything hastily but We backtrack and determine it didn't have any effect on the game as there was no troops on his right side object just lootas and I had my manticore contesting the other objective and the vets in the chimera could have also gotten out to contest.

We tie on objectives so it goes to Victory points and Dash wins it on victory points.

MVP: Infantry squads in Vendettas, one killed 3 lootas and they were able to contest. a flamer here would have been really good.
Oops it did nothing: Executioner wasn't very good as nothing was bunched up but it was the lamb for Ghaz and I didn't get any early vehicle kills.
game analysis
made a ton of mistakes this game.
0. Have to get enough sleep and not have a headache starting the day.
1. Should have checked for immobilized markers before moving in turn 3 was really afraid of running out of time and I ran out of time.
2. Should have came in with the Left Vendetta in the very corners and not been afraid of Grots since they can't hurt a vehicle if I did this I wouldn't have gotten eaten by burnas and would have been able to shoot up the grots for that objective.
3. Should have moved the right vendetta 12 to get a rear shot at the battle wagon
4. Should have moved 12 and got out with the CCS to bring it down and melta his wagon less likely to wiff.
5. Should have shot the grots even if they were fearless can get lucky and kill them.
6. We both needed to play faster over all. Taking lots of pictures really slowed the game down. I was able to finish my other 3 games.
7. Should have fired at the units on objectives in the last turn trying to kill the grots and the boys instead of nobs and maybe pulled it out by killing them.

I think its funny that both you and dash only posted up to your games vs each other atm and next time dont be so slow getting your army away then you could have had lunch with me brad and dash. anyway great report and sorry tht the pic I took(the one of you and dash) turned out a bit blurry.

It was great to meet you, and sorry that you fared such poor shooting. :(

I did notice one thing we missed....the chimera that moved up to the boyz on the last turn and contested that objective had been immobilized on turn2; it even still has the red dice on it from Turn2 when the Lootas opened up on it.

We were both rushed, and no big deal in the end since we had the same outcome. I liked your use of "agonizing" over deployment - I deployed my typical thing presuming you were going to smoke me off the table in short order; I was expecting you to laugh me off the table. I think that by the time we were set up, questions about lists settled and started our game....we were 45 minutes into it since they started time before we even got to our table.

Was nice meeting you as well. Was a fun game if not just a bit rushed towards the end. Bad rolls happen.

The manticore was in there also and the guys could have just gotten out and contested.

Yeah that last rush did suck have to play faster and take less pictures. Although some of the pictures were pretty epic the double 1s and the veterans killing the deffkopta.

The safe play would have been to reserve it all and not expose myself to the deffkopta alpha strike and hoping you wiff with lootas or I make cover saves with the manticores.

What would you have done if I reserved everything?

lol its nice to get to put a real face to a screen name. (lol even if Dash looks like a ogre standing next to you)
I HATE when IG players reserve everything!!! it stops my koptas and lootas on tun 1 allowing you to roll on safely and shoot the living crap out of me.
Reserves are a real pain in my butt, i have to split my forced to deal with whats on the table then you just roll fresh units on the table and take advantage of my openings.

Well.....you have three vendettas and the rest comes out on foot and hasn't the ability to outflank. To be honest, it wouldn't have been a fun game with me going first.

Pre-Game: My left Deffkopta would have scouted up 24", my right deffkopta would have scouted up 24" towards the opposite table quarter.

Turn1: My warbuggies and trukk move 18" up the table towards the center left, my battlewagons move 12" towards the center right.

Turn2: My warbuggies and deffkopta on the left block off your table edge. My trukk moves up 12", and the boyz get out along the side blocking off to the middle of the table. My battlewagons do the same, meeting the deffkopta on the right (probably using my Waaaugh! here to get the extra movement).

Your turn2: Your vendettas can outflank just fine. Everything else that makes its reserve roll successfully is destroyed. That's not fun. :(

LOL well when I get back from Afghanistan is about 6 months I may have to drive down to FL and and see if i can win a battle box. or just lean some new ork tricks!

Thank you for the nice report. Both armies look great.

Get more sleep next time so you don't make so many mistakes.

Why did you remove the flamers on the infantry squads? Flamers would have really helped against the lootas and grots.

Don't think blocking off the table edge works unless you block off the whole edge with vehicles. I seen at Ardboys that vehicles just tankshock onto the board past infantry.

Reserving everything isn't a very good idea against an assault army because they have 2 turns to get right next to you.

Outflanking Valkyries so you can get it side or rear shots on battle wagons is the way to go though.

reserves can be risky. I can roll really low and not get much on and then your in my face.

I can tankshock onto the board but thats probably not a good place to be right next to you to get assaulted.

Infantry Squad flamers will be a definate next time. I asked in the rules section and yeah your right you can tankshock onto the board but thats still not a good place to be.

Somewhere in the confinds of central Jersey

Dash doing that is almost cetainly creating an auto lose situation for yourself. He can tank shock on the left, deal with a deff kopta 12 boyz and the buggies without much difficulty. Then be on the other side of the board from you and las cannon side shots on your wagons. All this is post waaagh! by the way.
