Ok so I've used pretty much everything to strip plastic. The last two things I've been using are Heavy Duty Easy-Off and Super Clean. So far until my current two projects I've never had a problem removing at least 99% of the paint from a plastic mini. The picture below shows a MK1 Land Raider that is on its' SECOND dip in super clean. This is going on day two as of tonight and has also had a 30min meeting with mister Easy-Off. See how much paint still remains? Is there anything else I can use to further the process? Maybe a better paint remover someone has used? Mind you I've been doing this a couple years now and like I said never had a problem before so.... help please anyone? Only thing I haven't tried is brake fluid and yes I understand an automotive shop has to dispose of it and will probably charge a fee which, if I have to do, I will do it.

I have been using Simple Green and dipping it in for 8 to 12 hours for plastic and 48 hours for pewter, after It has soak I would use a stripping brush to clear off the access paint. just something to try.

Probably work

Been using superclean, which normally does the trick. I did however get a batch of miniatures from an auction that look as if they've been painted with multiple layers of HOUSE paint. The superclean and a heavy brush got most of it off, but the bottom layer still remains. I'm thinking automotive grade sandpaper is going to be the last resort. If I ever get around to it, I'll let you know how it goes.

Have to agree with Simple Green - I got some at lowes and it works great,

I could take that puppy off your hands if it becomes too hard...

btw, is that enamel paint or acrylic? looks a bit too shiny even for gloss acrylic. looks more like Testor's paint...

I use 100% acetone (nailpolish remover) with a toothbrush, DO NOT DIP OR SOAK PLASTIC IN IT. Work over a sink with water running, dip the brush in the acetone and scrub the paint off, then rinse with water, and repeat. Works great, wont feth up the plastic as long as you remember to rinse it often.

This tank is definitely staying with me . The shine is because the tub is covered with a plastic wrap so crap doesn't get in there. Simple green wont get this off either. I believe now that it is a flat enamel paint as I actually had a similar issue before that I forgot about. It's the reason my game board has a demolisher tank as a piece of terrain because the previous owner sprayed it like five times with different colors.

I might carefully try the acetone. I've known people to use cotton swabs and q-tips and just lightly rub the paint off. Seems t work for them for stripping almost anything off plastic. I would of course test it out on something junk first though. Thanks for the Ideas. I might just go try simple green again. I've just known it to have the same issues with certain paint as this sometimes.

I just took the tank out of the tub and it seems it IS working. I might just have to leave it in the super clean for like a week though :(. On a side note all I really need is the paint near the glue bonds gone. I can if I have to sand the rest, all though I'd rather not.

superclean looses its potency after a day or 2 so if your going to leave it in there for a week good luck buddy

That's the second time? wtf? I don't really know what to tell you! I use simple green, but it makes my metals rust after about 36 hours, so I'm scared now....It was an honour guard guy...Maybe he wasn't pewter?
