I have started this topic because I want to know what your most symbolic kill is. For example, mine was the transformation of an Inquisitor into a Chaos Spawn by Gift of Chaos.

My Farseer single handedly wiped out 4 demonette squads (one per turn with Eldritch Storm, never scattered more than an Inch, rolled all 6s), then Guided Asuremen to allow him to single-handedly kill a greater demon of Slanesh (all 5 swings hit before the rest of his squad could do anything).
Given the Eldar's relationship with Slanesh, i couldnt of asked for a better turn of events in that match.
not symbolic per-say, it just haunts me in every match against Dreadies. My Howling Banshee squad's will ALWAYS get killed by a Deepstriking DN with a Heavy Flamer, a la Dawn of War II opening Cutscene

I was playing in a huge 2v2 game, something like 4000 points total per side. In the middle of my line was my Crimson Fists version of Marneus Calgar. The great part is, I use the old model of him where he's sitting on a throne with a bodyguard standing next to him. Anyway, he and my tactical squad are holding down our home objective as Abaddon and his Terminators bear towards us. After turns of weathering stupid amounts of fire, it's just Abaddon coming towards Calgar. At that point, the two duke it out in single combat. When the dust clears, Calgar comes out on top, and casually strolls back to his chair. I thought it was pretty symbolic having the most powerful loyalist and most powerful traitor fight each other in single combat.

This one was done to me. But its very cinematic if you can put it into movie picture model.
My Slannesh DP (3.5 chaos codex, 4th ed rules) assaulted a Lysnader wing unit of 5 terminators with attached Librarian. The DP munched the 4 terminators that were in his killzone (librarian was not in BTB so it couldn't swing). We consolidated in and the next combat I forgot to designate the libby as the target (I was tired) and so killed the last terminator leaving the Libby to force weapon my DP to death.
I can just see the movie of the DP clearing away terminators while the lone librarian steps in with mystic energy and fells the beast. Pretty cool imagery.

Team fight 3 vs 3 with a Dark Angel theme. On top of the regular objectives the Loyalist forces had a bonus objective to kill/capture Cypher. Cyphers stats were collectively upgraded to be 5th Edition compatible. I was controlling Cypher with traitor IG.
The plan was to form a huge infantry blob ( fanatic followers of the Prophet ) with every possible bell and whistle ( Commissar, Priest etc etc. ) and attach the "Voice of the Emperor" to it. So far so good. There was a just a slight little problem with this plan. You see, everything went as planned...until a morale check was called. "No problem. We have a fething Stubborn Ld10 with re-roll!" "Crap. Now what?" You remember me mentioning the Commissar, right? Now what does a Commissar do in a situation like this?
BLAM! The Commissar obviously noticed that their Prophet was getting second ideas about leading a charge against the Death Wing. This was obviously not good for the morale of the Faithfull. So thinking quickly on his feet he came to the conclusion that a dead Martyr Prophet is even better than a living Prophet .

My favorite battle ever, just due to the imagery.
PDF Blood Angels vs Old Codex nids (funny we both switched armies when the new codex's hit)
Mephiston on a bike with that power that gives him wings (been a while) charging at a flying tyrant in the middle of the battlefield. Just love the image of mephiston, one hand on the bike, one hand on his sword, clashing with a tyrant in mid-air, while below stands 10 marines standing atop a hill firing down into the gaunts.
My other favorite is not a kill, more a lack of a kill. Orks vs Plague Marines (same opponent, new armies)
After a turn of shooting, I have a lone burna WAAAGH into a lone bike on turn 2. At the end of turn 7, neither the bike or the ork had landed a wound.

Not exactly symbolic, but awesome non the less. My warbles runs up to a dread takes two hits one dosnt wound but the other dose. So with instant death at hand I take my 5++ save make it, and then process to deliver two penetrating hits and blows up the dread and walks back in to the off to be safe from the incoming bolted fire. And this is my friends first time playin marines.

Skulltaker chopped the head off of the deceiver while receiving a mortal wound. Both models struck at the same initiative...but now that I think about it, Skulltaker was assaulted while he was in terrain (had just deep struck during my turn)...does the Deceiver ignore terrain when charging, thus losing his initiative? Because if he does, that game would have gone MUCH differently. Probably would have won the PAX east 40k tourney instead of second place...grrr... Forgot to mention, earlier in the tournament he cut the heads off of 2 carnifexes, a hive tyrant and a broodlord. It was a good day to be the chosen of Khorne. 4 giant bugs and a star god? Yea, he claimed his share in that tourney

I got 2 here.
Ill speak it cinematically.
Of the souls who once held the gate against the foul necrons, only 5 Devastators and the mighty Baneblade Dawn Of Destruction continued to hold the breach, a 6 inch wide gate into the fortress. thrice did the Baneblade train its guns on the skeletal warriors of the necrons, and thrice did it earn its stripes. Yet when the 4th shell was loaded into the Baneblade cannon, An omnious monolith did bear down upon the godly war engine.
2 more shells were fired at the monolith, but neither could damage the archaic tecnology of its living hull. When the third and final baneblade round did not penetrate its blasphemous armoured hull, all seemed lost. The devastators were fighting a bloody melee with scarabs, and all others were dead. But on a glimmer of forlorn hope, the gunners aimed the lascannon for the crystal atop the mighty structure, and there they hit home, destroying the infernal machine and stoppering the gate at the same time. The now cut off necrons outside the gate could do nothing under the withering fire of the now free devastators and the might of the baneblade. The day was won, and the fortress held.
Pretty much a baneblade shot a mono 3 times only for the sponson lascannon to get a destroyed - wrecked and block the gate to the fortress, leaving the higher up devastator squad with plasmacannons and lascannons to pick them off.
Second one, Now you wouldnt belief me if I said 6 guardsmen killed 8 khorne beserkers would you?
I had a squad of guardsmen run out (they were a special weapons team) and throw all 3 demo charges I gave them at this squad of khorne beserkers. When the dust settled, only the Sergeant lived. He recjoiced that khorne has so willfully slain his brothers so he could be the only claimer of these 6 fresh skulls. 6 las-shots from the 3 remaining guardsmen pattered harmlessly off his ceramite armour. Then, a lone sergeant (the sergeant of a squad who fell victim to range fire of which the details have escaped me) raised his lasgun in defiance of the gods, and blasted a hole straight through the sergeants forehead.
rolled a 4 to hit, 6 to wound, and the chaos player rolled a 2 on his armour save.
The chances of a guard sergeant killiing an aspiring champion are approximately 5.5%
EPIC WIN FOR THOU GUARDSMEN SERGEANT!

abaddon kills an entire wolf guard terminator army with logan by himself
had a bet with my friend that i could take his 30 termies and logan with just abaddon
he kills logan on the charge, then proceeds to past every single 4+ invul for the rest of the game (about 40 of them)
particularly symbolic for me because that was the 100th match i'd fielded abaddon
i have never rolled 1s for his attacks, never had him die, and always had him make back his points at least twice over
(not to mention the time he killed an entire emperor's fist leman russ company (20 tanks!))

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!
"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
—Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions |

Before me and Dimmy52 understood that Ghazghkull's Waaagh!!! was only for one whole turn, we had one, wonderful incident with Ghazghkull:
His trukk had kareened! in the first turn, 18" into a IG gunline and he took the only wound out of the whole complex nob unit, he had personally crushed 2 LRBTs, 2 whole trooper squads, a Stormtrooper squad, dying from 2 GLs and a single Meltagun hit from the CCS during his God state after he had smashed their chimera.
Another one in the same game was my stupid decision to Train my boyz out to dodge pieplates resulting in Marbo being able to wipe out the whole squad by throwing his democharge and then proceeding to kill enough boyz over two assault phases to force a morale check, roll the minimum fleeing distance and be caught by Marbo rolling the maximum distance to pursue.
The match as whole was a close loss by me simply because out of all our surviving units, only Dimmy had 1 scoring unit left within the capture distance of an objective.
|
Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
