I've just started doing dark eldar and was wondering if any DE "veterans" or someone who has some excperiance with them has a few tips/hints/tactics that could come in handy.
I've only got the codex and was hoping for a 750 arcon army rather than wyche although if wyche armys are a must then the i dont mind, want to know what upgrades and units to have and what to avoid.
I have some expirience with fast armys ( speed freaks) but nothing like dark eldar, and i know there is rumors of a new codex so please dont tell me.

Thanks

Did you know? Every sunday from 12 to 5 pm you can get a carvery for £6.95 at the pudding and pye.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

1. Thor665 and Clthomps are the two Dark Eldar masters of Dakka. A PM to them would be appropriate.

2. Do you have a budget?

3. If you insist on having a Kabal, and 750 points is what you're after, do you want to be gross, or do you want to have a fun and fluffy list? There's a huge difference.

If you want to be gross at 750 points with a kabal, try this:

HQ: Haemonculi

Troop1: 10x warriors with 2x Dark Lances
Troop2: 10x Warriors with 2x Dark Lances

Heavy1: Ravager with 3x Disintegrators
Heavy2: Ravager with 3x Disintegrators
Heavy3: Ravager with 3x Disintegrators

If you have points left over, take units of 5 raider squads with a raider (and dark lance).

That's about as gross as I can think of. =p

Dashofpepper knows what he is talking about with Dark Eldar. There are only two really good builds for them unfortunately, but the new Codex is coming. Praying for the first turn or for a 6 on your seize the initiative roll is always a good bet too.

@Dashofpepper: I could swear you could toss in Blasters or Shredders along side Dark Lances, please correct me if I am wrong or if there is a reason not to do this.

@ OP: Even if you don't want to take a Wych Cult army you can still field Wyches as Elites, if I remember correctly even after their latest Nerf they are still the on of the top 5 CC units in the game. If you can get away with it, the grotesque pillbox is still devistating and they are the best screen in the game, assuming your opponent doesn't say that the USR of the same name over rules their version of FNP. Other then that Dash has a hot list that is simple to play, just keep in mind a long long time ago in a place not so far away every Dark Lance in Warhammer 40K was cursed to miss more then mathmatically possible enjoy!

You better ensure you have the right codex first as there are two that are floating around and 1 of them is outdated.

Looking at the cover of your codex - is there a "round white stamp" on the cover that says "2nd Edition"? It's really the 2nd print of the codex and is the most current one. If you have a codex that doesn't have an obvious white stamp on the cover then you have the fist print codex and there are a number of things wrong with it including point costs, vehicle upgrades and Force Organization options (like Wych Cult).

I know you want to get to the tips and list design but it would help everyone if we all understood we are talking from the same codex - there's your Dark Eldar Tip #1.

Kwi has a good point that is easy to fix. I know I have one at home but not on hand, can anyone out there confirm the ISBN for the latest edition for us?

DE firepower is king - assuming you want to stay away from
wyches.

Archon\Dracon on bike (with goodies)
3 bike unit (2 blasters and leader)

Fill in with minimum raider squads.
My preference was blaster, splintercannon, sybarite w poison blades and two warriors/ablative casualties) on a raider with dark lance.

For 750, you should be able to play a bike squad and 3 or 4 raiders. That gives you 8 to 10 S8 AP2 shots, 12 to 16 S4 shots.

As you expand and add some other types you can get a little more variation but that is a good mobile start.
