Subject: Pimp my chaos list: starting over

Hello guys, I recently moved off to college, and as can be expected with a college appartment, space is at a premium. Thus, I am not able to bring my 5000 points of plague marines and 3500 of marines. So I decided to try somethig I haven't done before, Black Legion.
The problem I face is the fact that I have played little, to no actual games, even though I have been with he hobby for 5+ years. So I have no list building skills.
I have a few models, but I want some advice as to build an all comers list.
Here's what I have:
Hq
Abbadon (a conversion I am quite proud of)
Sorcerer on steed (another conversion I really like, he's riding a cold one)
Troops
Chaos squad
with power weapon, plasma gun, and mark of khorne
Elite
4 terminators
2 with twin lighting claws, one with lighting claw and combimelta
5 chosen
5 flamers
5 chosen
5 meltas
dreadnought
2 close combat weapons
I picked the chosen as a hammer squad, and I would probably one have one squad per game, depending on what I'm facing.
So, with all of your expertise and experience, what do you people say I need?

Pretty much all I know what to get to add on to my list is another chaos marine squad,(any idea how to kit these guys out?) with either two rhinos, or drop pods.
I will also probably get a land raider for my termie squad
As for fast attack and heavies, no idea. I was kinda of thinking a vindicator and preadator, is this a good choice?
And what should I add for fast?

for CSM, I usually like to make them assault orientated. meltas is a good choice or maybe plasma (especially plasma plagues)
vindi is a good choice for HS. not too keen on FA. Raptors are ok I suppose with either MoS or MoK. Bikes can be good (especially nurgle bikes) but cost a heap both in money and in points. spawns are point sinks

Thanks for the tips, since my other army is all shooty, I was thinking of an assault army. I was thinking instead of another CSM squad, a bezerker squad. Before I was thinking raptor, but I'll look into bike squads too.
As for heavy support I keep liking the look of the vindicator, I think I'll take one or two.

CSM can't get drop pods outside apocolypse
page 89 in the CSM codex is about building an army list, through expirience I'd say at least 40 men in an army (or close)
i'd say get 2 10man squads in a rhino (mo slanesh with champ and power wep is definately worth the points, khorne is so expensive and overated)
though most people think differently termies are a waste of points considering you can have a 10man sq of bezerkers, champ and power wep and Rhino for exactly the same price (although mokhorne is a bit dumb, atleast 1 squad of bezerkers in your army is well worth it)
also you can only have 3 elites in an army, so Imo the dreadnought could go and be replaced with a couple of obliterators (read the rules on oblits, they're amazing
also, the flamer chosen squad, get them in a rhino so they can get close fast and barbique anything that may be a bit too anoying in the game (eg: mass save termies)
and sorcorer of slannesh could move them closer to the flamers and bundle them up, meaning a 10man tactical will have to take (at max) 50 saves
hope some of this helps (and could you post up a picture of your abbadon please?)

I quite like 5 man raptor squads with 2 meltas each. They are very mobile, can usually nuke tanks and and can tie up units in CC fairly well too.
You need to hide them behind rhinos or terrain in order to keep them safe though.
I also really like Havocs armed with 4x AC's. They combine light anti-armour and some pretty good long range anti-horde and anti-heavy infantry. I also like 4x HB for some good anti-horde, letting your other units concentrate on doing their thing.

Abaddon is a bit of a point sink TBH. A normal Chaos Lord with MoK and lightning claws is cheap, or get MoK with daemon weapon. Daemon Princes are the best HQ really, but should come in pairs.
Chosen are pretty cool in min units inside Rhinos, after all only two can fire from the hatch so why waste those extra specials!
Dreadnoughts aren't too bad, give them a missile launcher so if it goes nuts fire frags at your own tanks. Use them as armour shield for your Rhinos, and remeber they can pop smoke
Terminators are ok. Need to deep strike as Chaos Land Raiders aren't that cool. You then need icons so they do not scatter. Combi weapons make them decent, but obivously one shot so can be hit and miss.
Normal CSM are pretty cool with dual specials in a Rhino, or Plague Marines with dual specials in a Rhino - the T5 and FnP can be cool.
Min Raptors deep striking with two meltaguns are nasty against tanks.
Vindicators are normal dose of cool. Predators can be good too. Obliterators are made of win with the numerous tactics and weapons they have available.
