If you ask me, white would look better.

How about black with yellow lenses?

I think it would look good.

Well according to GW's fluff in the Marine codex, veterans are supposed to have either white helmets or the regular color (yellow in this case) with a white laurel around it. According to complimenting colours, though, purple would look really good with the yellow, so maybe the yellow helmet, white laurel, and purple lenses?

LAKER MARINES!!!

Personally I don't like the white on yellow. I don't know how to explain it, but it doesn't look right..

I think painting the helmets red with a white stripe on the top, then having green eyes looks quite good.

I did mine a kind of light grey.

I think it was Codex grey with a dark wash then highlighted back up to Codex then finish off with a lighter shape for the edges.

I may be wrong on which grey I used but it finished with quite a nice light greyish finished. Don't go for a white finish as it looks too bright against the yellow.

Will post a piccy once I get home later this afternoon so you can see what I'm rambling about.

For a sergeant maybe, but not for the rest of the squad. In Codex: Space Marines, it says that chapters who follow the codex astartes, thesergeants have red helmets, with a white laurel to signify veteran sergeants (although a white stripe would work just as well.)

But red and grey doesn't really mix IMO.

The fluff gears more towards white or red. BlazinGhost, I can see the white maybe looking goofy, but if you put the black trim on the marine, it looks much better! :}

Nasty picture but you can see how the grey/white goes with the yellow.

I agree- white and yellow look just fine. Indeed, using a cool white will provide contrast to the warmer yellow.
