Think the title says all.

Even though I had done some 40K a few years ago, I highly doubt I done any conversions, I always done everything "by the box" if you want to put it that way.

So what counts?? A simple addition of something not found in the original box or something a bit more extravagent??

As I thought, just needed confirmation, So im also guessing that adding magnets into a model for swapping loadouts would count as a conversion goin by what jackanory said.

In my opinion, a conversion would be when you take one thing, or even bits left over from one thing, and make it into something different:
Like taking a Carnifex and "converting it" in to a Tyrannofex.
Or, taking a spur of regular space marines and "converting" them into chaos marines.

This also works for bits:
Taking a flamer, chopping it up and adding a bolter handle converts it into a shotgun.

Adding something to a model, but not changing what the model is, is just sculpting:
Like adding a purity seal of green stuff to a space marine, it is still a space marine.
Adding scything talons to a genestealer, it is still a genestealer.

Hope that clears it up

Ah I see.

Most likely all of the things I will be doing to my models will be sculpting an I prefer to "follow the box" unless doing something as a display piece, even then i may go by the box.
