Hey Dakka,

I've been out of the hobby side of the hobby for a long time and I'm getting back into it. So Here is a quick sculpt I started and have not yet finished. It's an amateur attempt at a previous project and is meant as a little something to post to the community.

For an amateur attempt you could do a lot worse. His pants and mutations could use the same level of detail as his shirt.

That is really good actually. I agree that there should be some more detail on the mutations, but he has a nice blank zombie expression on his face. I think the shirt is really neat, the pocket was a nice touch. Good job!

Well you're definately looking promising for your amateur sculpts. My favorite part of this is that you're obviously not afraid of working with green stuff. So many people are afraid to really do anything with it because they get frustrated, but you don't seem to have that problem.
My suggestions are to make the frame out of either wire or sprues melted together (which it looks like you did), then sculpt one limb at a time. When the green stuff starts to get unwieldy, let it harden and then build off of it. Just remember, soft on the sculpting tools. Someone once told me to pretend you're a jedi and you're just moving the green stuff with your mind; that's how soft your sculpting should be.

those are some nice words of encouragement. and I must confess, I have never heard that piece of advice before. I'm going to sculpt up a robed cultist or something else so we shall see what comes of it and your advice, either way thanks!!!
