Subject: Making DKoK? need some ideas and help with plasticard.

Since the DKoK PDF is now free from FW, ive decided to grab a small army together (1,500)
I do however have issues ordering from FW (had no end of problems, so want to avoid using them)
So, im now left with a huge problem, the entire army has to be built without a single DKoK model.
So, i do need suggestions.
Ive been thinking of using steel legion as the base for the army (long coats, gas masks, grim dark)
Would these guys be acceptable?
Now, after that i plan on adding in things like quadd guns, which is where by problem comes in.
Ive worked with basic plasticard before with no problems, but i need to find somewhere that stocks plastic tubing (gun barrels etc)
It will be a case of having to build them up from basic, so i would be making a carriage for it, then a housing for the barrels, then eventually adding in all of the detail.
So, any ideas where to start please?
For some quick ref:

Really? Have you got a link?
As for the Steel Legion, well they don't really look much like DKoK, perhaps you would be better off with the plastic greatcoats from Wargames Factory.

Including a £225 order that was "misplaced" and took 8 months to turn up. (after constant emails and calls to them)

Not have the issues you mention with FW, I have ordered direct from them quite a lot.
I note your in Fareham, tis a nice fast 3 hour train journey to Nottingham and you could pick up your order in person , head up early one morning get there for 10am .. spend the whole day at Wh world head back at 5pm be back by 9pm!
Awesome day out and all your lovely FW bits nice and safe!
failing that awesome day out which you could plan to meet others at and have a blast , you could look at great coats from wargames !

I would do mate, but i work most days of the week and my hours change too much to plan anything.
Also, if i did do that i would end up driving (cant stand trains)
Only problem is that 6 hours round trip every time i want something (i cant afford to buy the army in 1 go )
So cost ontop of that for the trip 3-4 times.
Ive ordered 6 times from them now, and not once have i not had a problem.
Last time included being charged 5 times for the same order when thier site changed.
This threw my account into its overdraft and racked up a nice £150 charge for me, ontop of orders.
I got the money back on the extra 4 (only got 1 lot of the order come through, but charged 5 times)
I was however out of pocket on the overdraft, even after trying to explain to the bank it was not my mistake.
So yea, had a rough time with them
Was planning on dropping down to the GD, but had to work -_-

Actually, FW DKoK look little like DKoK, and Steel Legion models a lot like DKoK since DKoK was originally a repaint of Steel Legion models (basically in brown coats and skulls painted on their masks). I say go Steel Legion! A lot easier to get a hold of, a lot cheaper too.

( first direct are offering a £100 to swtichcurrent account with them atm - just a thought, since your gainfully employed ! ) http://www2.firstdirect.com/1/2/1st-account/?fd_msc=CC476&WT.mc_id=CC476 Only other idea I could think of is GD like you say, save up etc, or have mates pick up the order for you. but sounds like you had a reall bad experience that I must say inst the run of the mill, cant understand how your bank would allow multiple orders to be done and then charge you the overdraught fee.! naughty, Worth 10 mins of your time to write a complaint I would have thought rather than phone a desk monkey, yea steel legion are an idea as well, dont know your skill level but have you looked in to casting your own (* cough ) As for stocks plastic tubing , I found local art stores and hobby (trains etc) places decent, online I have used http://www.ema-models.com , they dont have pics on the website , however I do have the catalouge and I can say they have nearly EVERYthing you would need

Skinn: Thanks alot
May adapt them a bit, but hopefully they should look fine.
About the only difference i could see in SL and DKoK were the guns and paint job really, so might give it a go.
Tauzor: The bank shouldnt have done it, but it was processed as multiple orders rather than a single one (so 5 different, rather than 1 order x5)
Which is why it went through my overdraft (something i dont actually have by request lol)
Casting my own has come to mind a few times as i dont have problems sculpting, its the actual casting process that i would be stuck on (never casted anything in my life)
About the closest ive ever gone to that was press moulds for ogre armour (samurai style ogres)
