Just wait a bit. Rumours are floating around that might point to a dedicated chaos Drop Pod kit.
I never understood why GW just gave us loyalist tanks with an extra sprue. Chaos stuff should look TOTALLY different from imperial ones.
But I digress. Make everything sharper and more jagged looking. The inside should be disgustingly crude and rough.

Ok one thing I heard of was to mount the Pod fins upside down. This raises the base of the Pod by about an inch and resembles a Dreadclaw.

A cheap and cheerful way of doing it is to simply replace any aquilas with the icon of your choice. Also, what the above guy said, that would look awesome if done right.

Get some Nurgle Icons, some chains and some green stuff and you're set. Just scrape off the Aquila's, chapter icons, and anything else imperial and you're set.

If you're Nurgl-ing it you can't just put some icons on it! It has to have tentacles, boils, and all sorts of disgusting stuff adorning it. I'd make the insides look like the inside of a body, bones, guts and intestines and stuff should do the trick. Maybe sculpt some gory piles of junk to spread around the door for whenever you open it, like it all came spilling out - that would be pretty boss if you ask me.

...See...The standard chaos stuff just doesn't cut it for a drop pod.
They would never put things like chains and spikes on them, because those would just end up falling off when the pod goes into the atmosphere....
I'd be interested to see a dreadclaw conversion. Those are great. Except for being like 75 $

Why should Chaos vehicles be different to Imperial ones? The whole idea is that the Chaotic hordes are formed largely from fallen Imperial troops. Seeing as all marines have been armed with pretty much the same weapons for 10,000+ years then loyalists and heretics will be using the same kit.
The weird thing is BFG where the chaos and imperial ships are different.
But on topic, I would be inclined to just fiddle with the iconography and paint scheme. Then again, I never liked the idea that more spikes == more chaos.

It needs more spikes (because according to GW thats what makes things Chaos...)
On a more serious note, for the bodies you could use bits from the Vampire Counts range. Its all skeletons, half eaten corpses etc. For ooze you could use fake blood, glue or a fake water product and dye it green.

But they aren't the same weapons and vehicles at all. Power armour goes through different marks,as do vehicles and guns and everything.
They should represent the fact that chaos quite often has vehicles that are well over several thousand years old. A land raider from the heresy would look nothing alike.
The SM drop pod is a recent thing for the imperium. Until the heresy, they were using dreadclaws for most of their orbital bombardment operations.

This is actually an interesting statement, simply because in 40k? Chaos doesn't technically have "Drop Pods".
They use Dreadclaws, almost exclusively, which aren't Drop Pods but Assault Craft. Dreadclaws being made to slam into an opposing vessel's hull, and then activate a ring of high powered fusion cutters along the bottom of the pod to breach the hull.
They can double as "Drop Pods", but they're horribly ineffective in that role--which has always been explained as to why the Chaos Legions tend to really heavily utilize teleporter technology and Warp Rifts.
But on topic, I would be inclined to just fiddle with the iconography and paint scheme. Then again, I never liked the idea that more spikes == more chaos.
Agreed. Spikes != Chaos. They equal cheesy supervillain.

The easiest way is to shave off aquilas add some chaos stars such as the FW Brass Etch and paint Chaos Stars ala Dave Taylor.
The harder way is this

chaos do have drop pods, that are different to dread claws.
its just that when gw released codex spiky space pirates ( CSM) they didnt bother to go in depth with chaos legion fluff, just spiky chaos pirates.
In Lord of Night:
in all pre heresy books they have drop pods aboard their ships, 10,000 years later would they have any still? YES! they have everything from land raider to rhino/predator. There is alot of stuff chaos misses out on, GW wanted to be mr simple and ditch the thing that sucked me into 40k, the ability to make an army with unique game play and different appearance. (if you dont catch on to what im saying, its the old books of chaos gave you army so many little different things it was great! squads of chaos chosen sorcerers! vehicles with burning flames around them oh the list goes on.
back on topic
just get the chaos spike sprue and some plasticard and that would be your bread and butter

That's very cool. The only other thing I would do to make it even more Chaosy is add chained and spiked - charred loyalist corpses around the bottom of the pod. Add plenty of horns and spikes to the top and paint it up with a great maw underneath.

The SM drop pod is a recent thing for the imperium. Until the heresy, they were using dreadclaws for most of their orbital bombardment operations.
Power armour did go through a bunch of different marks... All the way up to the heresy and the Mark 6 suit. Mark 7 is arguably the only post heresy suit (except for the occasional Mark 8 errant suit that GW seems to have given uip on).
Going on the current background the Forgeworld MkIIB land raider is the "pre-heresy" version of the tank, based on the medium-old Epic models. Both the Imperial and Chaos standard Land Raider are exactly the same beast with different trimmings, as are the Rhino, Predator and Vindicator.
Another big part of the loyalist Marine mythos is that they venerate their ancient vehicles and therefore the main chapters are also likely to have tanks thousands of years old (certainly in the background... I think the casualties suffered in a standard 40k game belie that type of thing ).
The other thing to remember about the 40k background is that loyalist Marine chapters sometimes go rogue and turn to chaos. Hence it is explicitly allowed by the background to do a chaos marine army using entirely loyalist marine models. At that point the "chaos" marines will be entirely armed with loyalist kit. As far as I understand the only real difference in the kit available to the 2 sides are Whirlwinds and Land Speeders, which I don't quite understand as they were both standard bits of kit pre-heresy. I suppose you insert the standard "no access to forge worlds and difficult to maintain" clauses at that point.
In summary then, it is my opinion that you could easily keep it simple and just fiddle with the iconography and call it a recent acquisition from the hated followers of the corpse-god
Also that kitbashed dreadclaw is nice!

Wow that dreadclaw is awesome, alright so ive decided the drop pod will have some spikes but not alott on the outside just enough to give it a touche of ouch i dont wanna touch that maybe more perhaps a dead space marine on the outside (painted like a black templar mu hahahah). On the inside im going to create a slaughter house, when the door opens it will reveal a disgusting layer that will intone bodies of space marines hanging on the walls by hooks, dead enslaved women that were stripped of there skin and blood that looks to be pouring out of the drop pod as if all the victims are being drained of blood. and of course the occasional half eaten body with intestines every where and of course im gonna have to dedicate it to you guys cause you helped me spur on the idea. so ill post images as soon as i start . now just to wait for the parts i need.
