**Vitruvian XVII**

Just a few upgrades for current nid units, wanted someone to check them over before i had a go at using them.

Upgrades

Tyranid Prime:
- Wings ...... 15 points (Taking this Biomorph changes the Bonded Exoskeleton to Hardened Carapace)
- Take one unit of Shrikes as a troops choice ...... 20 points

Garoyles:
- For every 10 Gargoyles in the brood, one may replace fleshborer with Strangleweb ....... 10 points
- The entire brood may replace fleshborers with
Spike Rifles ...... 1 point per model
Spinefists ........ 1 point per model
Devourers ....... 5 points per model

The Winged Swarm:
For every Hive Tyrant with Wings included in your army, you can include one unit of Gargoyles or Wyverns as a Troops choice.

Wyvern Brood - FAST ATTACK
The Hive Mind adapted these when Gargoyles became embroiled in aerial combat with numerous Ork Stormboyz during the consumption of Vilius XII. After the Stormboyz repeatedly drove back the Gargoyles a new breed of flying creature, the Wyvern, was bred. Replacing the fleshborer with Scything Talons these incredibly swift creatures tear foes apart in a swarm of winged death

Composition: 10-30 Wyverns
Unit Type: Jump Infantry
Weapons and Biomorphs: Blinding Venom, Chitin, Scything Talons, Wings
Special Rules: Instinctive Behaviour - Feed, Fleet

OPTIONS: The entire brood may take
- Adrenal Glands ......... 2 points per model
- Toxin Sacs ............... 2 points per model

Way too cheap in comparison to the cost of wings on the tyrant. I'd have to say at least 20pts.

I'd only do this for the flyrant. His cost is high enough to justify this rule. The Prime is a little too cheap. IMO you need to bump up his cost slightly to give him this rule. It'll also make more sense to make 1 Shrike unit a troop choice for every Tyranid Prime in the army.

Change it to IB - Feed and get rid of Fleet (or if you want to give it Fleet, increase to 8pts a model...that's a 24" threat range!). You can call it the Hormagoyle.

Yeah thanks for the advice, all reasonable of course!

My Hive Fleet is called Goliath, so i dont know, although if they were first encountered in the imperium when facing Hive Fleet Goliath that could make sense. Hormagoyles does sound pretty cool though!

maybe give the new unit the option the exchange scything talons for rending claws for +10 points per model

I could i suppose, but that doesn't really fit for this particular unit imo. I was really thinking just winged hormagaunts to be honest. Rending claws pushes them more into the elite kinda units (stealers, warriors etc) not just flying fodder!

hormagoyles sounds a bit silly IMO... but its hard thinking of a good name that fits a new creation...

Yeah i know, i was trying to think of mythical flying beasts but couldnt think of any good ones. We've already got Harridan, Harpy, Shrike, Gargoyle (and Skyslashers!). I dunno tbh.

Yes i think that sounds cool! We'll go with Wyverns, updated the first post.
