Over at the warstore, the Isle of Blood box set has been broken down and the bitz are up for pre-order. Some of them are expensive but if you just want one or two pieces or the mini-rule book, this is your chance!

And now the price is set, expect Ebay to follow suit!

Me, I'm buying the box and flogging what I don't need, rather than pay an inflated, largely arbitrary cost for what I want. Theoretically, I can be the one making the profit this time.

Woah, the prices are way over the top: 30$ for the book, 30$ for Griffon plus mage, 25$ for Reavers, 20$ for 2 weapon teams!
Warstore bitz are always expensive but this is crazy!

I'm sure once demand drops off for some things and is found to be higher than expected for others that the prices will fluctuate accordingly. Since none of the items in Island Of Blood have been for sale as of yet those prices are largely testing the waters. If I recall the prices on the Assault On Black Reach items went up for some and down for others according to the dictates of customer demand once they were available for a while. One thing that will influence pricing at The War Store and similar places is what things go for on eBay at open auction. After a few weeks of availability the closed auctions on those items will largely dictate what people can realistically expect to get for them.

I considered just ordering the rulebook at first but I'm just gonna buy the whole box set. Haven't decided to keep or trade/sell the minis yet. I like the looks of them but they are 2 armies I don't have and I know I don't have the time or cash to start 2 new armies. I might paint them all up for fun some day though...

That is about what I expected for the Rulebook. Considering the Big Book is $75, box is $100.
Previous box sets, the book was worth about 1/3 to 1/4 the box price.

Sad that the mini-book is the same price as the warmachine MkII softcover book.
And more than the average codex.

I don't expect the value to go down dramatically for it.
The useability of it over the Big-Ass Book of Big(tm) is worth it to tourney players.

The whole box as bits prices at $200. Seems about right considering the labor it will take to break up and re-package the product.

I agree the prices are high. However, consider that your kidding a limited run of a 2x high elf characters and a griffon for $30. Metal weapon teams are $17+, so two plastics for $20 is not to bad. Still high....they are plastic but you know we will pay for it

I wonder if they will have the turn in your bitz program for the box set. Im taking the skaven but dont need the high elves.

All things considered, those prices too seem too high.

I don't think that they're go for that on eBay.

Also, I'm not sure how quickly the Warstore updates their bits prices, so they may in fact be 'stuck' there for a good long time...

Limited run starter set? Did I miss something? (not that I would rule that out after the Space Hulk "marketing")
The Griffon, though nice, has almost no market value as everyone will have one or two to sell. Still it costs as much as the single 2 Hero plastic box.
The 5 Reavers cost almost as much as 8 Silver Helmets, 10 Lothern Seaguard cost amost as much as 16 Spearmen (because of the fix command a regiment of 31 costs 90$, 32 Spearmen only 60$).
I am sure that the book will sell for 10-15$ in the long run.
I still call this a rip off.

Current 40k book and last ed WHFB minibook were at $19.99. I don't see these going that low, based on the current price of the starters.

They now list the 40k minibook at $29.99.

I give GW 6 months max, probably 3, before the IoB is bumped to $120.
This alone will keep the bits prices up.

It is only a rip-off if you buy it.
Otherwise it is a high priced item that will drop when inventory sits.
The BWB prices are comparable to what I have seen for equivalent stuff on ebay from hoard'o'bits.

No idea about the Skaven bits, but $24 for 7 Swordmasters and 3 Command units or the 10 Seaguard feels like a pretty good deal.

At this point, I'm not sure how battlewagon makes any sales. Aside from a few choice buys (the rhino is always dirt cheap), most of the bits are readily available on ebay for far less.

A lot of people hate dealing with eBay because they're afraid of being scammed, unable to say "no" when there's actual bidding, or want the immediacy of ordering and getting stuff in a few days.

I use eBay and I think it's pretty good for 'bulk' items like 40k squad boxes where there is always a few being sold (I.E. not rare) and the prices are competitive, btu sometimes I like being able to go to store, buy kit, and go home and build it.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I got black reach bits dirt cheap from ebay when I started my orks 2 years ago. I think I paid $13.00(including shipping) for the mini rule book.

That's the problem Alpha - they don't, except to put them up. The Assault Cannon, the weapon of choice in 4th Ed, is still $8.99. And the Cyclone, now the Terminator weapon of choice, is $11.95.

Battle Wagon Bitz has always had real problems with "Supply & Demand", over-estimating demand over supply, and never paying any real attention to market forces and trends. And this is way before they were bought out by TheWarStore.

Nothing in the Island of Blood is rare, and like with the Battle of the Black Lagoon, eBay and Bitz sites will be flooded with the new stuff.

Go here if you don't want to pay through the fething nose for this stuff.

I think my favorite "why is this so high" item from the Warstore is the the Land Raider Crusader Assault Cannons for 23.99. A good 4.00 over the cost of the sprue directly from Games Workshop, and GW ships it for free. That's straight up price gouging.

Prices are alright, but as in almost every bitz-store, every half-decent bit is constantly sold out. As if they were out of business for years.

If anyone needs stuff I have about 4 IoB Boxes still available to be separated.

If you need stuff separately.

I'll undercut both warstore and bits & kits.

LOL!

Yeah bitz for the bits god man~

Haha what is hilarious about this...

You know if GW priced their models cheaper IoB would be valued less.

I just noticed a few factors on IoB

-They are mashing bits all over the place making it 'tedious' for bits cutting
-IoB is more pricier, maybe it'll see a price increase like AOBR?

Its still pretty insane Warstore is pulling 220$ per box set or something. Seeing how they probably get each set for like 50$

A lot of the mishmash of bitz on the sprues comes from the computer programs they use to make the molds. They take into account the angle the pieces will be on the sprue, flow of plastic, etc. Probably no criteria about keeping rat and elf bits on certain frames, just whatever makes the mold work.

In a previous life I did a lot of plastic injection molding, and can say that Mikhalia is spot on with this one!
