goodmorning Dakka

Today I finished my first test model for my new chapter, the temple guards.
anyhoo, I want to know what you guys think of my colour scheme/ painting style.
Be prepared though, im not a great painter

http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/134933-.html

I started by undercoting my model black, after that I painted all the red armour part scrab red. Which is still from the LoTR set, so thats why the quality sucks (havent had time to buy a new one yet). I used snot green and goblin green for, obviously, the green parts. Boltgun metal for all metal parts And after that gave it a black wash. I archieved the white by first putting on a layer of codex grey, after that codex grey + skull white (1/1). And after that an layer off pure skull white. I archieved the purity seal by a layer off Bleached bown and Komando kahki.

Im sorry for the bad grammar and stuff ;3
I hope you guys kan read it (:

So, please leave me some feedback, tell me if this is table top quality, and give me some hints on how to produce some better lookin models (:

Thank you (:

EDIT: sorry for the link, i;ll try to fix it!

Like the color scheme, very striking. Couple of suggestions: #1 You need to thin your paint out a lot & paint multiple layers. This is one of the hardest things to do because it really slows you down... but the payoff are smooth, clean surfaces and very subtle color variations across the plates. #2 You need to pay a little more attention to detail when it comes to the main surfaces and where they intersect. Zoom in on the side shot of the head and look at the hood scoop... er.... head scoop. Zoom in on where your shoulderpad's edging meets the main part of the pad (and where the color changes. Make the lines of adjacent colors as clean as possible because the contrasting colors makes any inconsistencies very obvious. Once the lines are as clean as you can get them... with a fine brush paint a little dark wash in the groove, that will help disguise any flaws that remain.

Overall though, I like it... and it takes magnification to find most of the problems.

His paint scheme looks a bit to Christmas-y. Red and Green, despite being complimentary colors, don't often go well together, as they always suggest Christmas to us. Red and white looks like Santa Claus. So, while your painting isn't too bad (paints need to be thinned, as Gitsplitta said) your scheme needs some work.

Hope that helps!

Love the colour scheme but am perplexed as to why you would start with black primer Vleermie.
If you used a white primer or even a grey one and some pale foundations where the white was to go you would have been able to keep the layers of paint thinner imho

Agree with Gitsplitta and reckon that they are fine for the table.
It is a gorgeous scheme which is going to be stunning as you develop the techniques.

My only complaint for the want of a better term, would be the yellow of the green not quite sitting with the scab red, but appreciate that the camera may affect the colour and also personal taste caveats apply.

I like the scheme! I think though that you need to work on your painting (not trying to be rude, I accept it as a compliment) Things like thinning down your paints, highlighting, washing, etc really help to bring out your work!
